I use Alpari in the UK. The only problems I have had are because I didn't understand how things were done rather than being their fault. One of my accounts with them is a Spread Betting account.
You can't use MT5 on live accounts with Alpari; I'm not sure if it is live with other brokers yet. I only trade FOREX and metals. There are no charges associated with any of my accounts apart from the over night swap cost and the spread.

Thanks dabbler, Ironically I found alpari after writing post, do they do FTSE/SPX or are they just Forex?

Hi all,
I have returned to meta trader after looking at it some time back, at the time I just could not get my head around it. if anyone can anser these hopefully simple questions it would give me a really good head start.
1) which Is best MT4 or 5 for trader mainly doing FTSE 100 + SPX pair trading (after I write some code that is)
2) From what I can see you can get MT4 / 5 yourself or from a broker which is best and is there a difference like they customise it?
3) Do I just get MTX and then pay for a data feed or does data feed come from broker?
4) Please Recommend broker / data feeds (I am in UK)
5) as all I have ever used are spread betting companies and thier software any idea of broker charges transaction and monthly would be a great help.
EDIT: forgot to mention I will be trading intraday so need fast price update ideally, not sure if this has any bearing on data feed / broker
Well think that's it apart from says hope I'm not be too much of a pain / newbie by asking these
Seve
