GMail requires SSL for SMTP, MetaTrader Mail Function does not support this.

So, look for another free EMail Account (gmx?) or try the search here, some scripts existing for this already!

Did you get your question answered? I am an amature trader and programer... completely self taught... with a huge help from this forum and the folks here.

Just yesterday (after a long time of trying) I just got the email alert working on my ea. I have it sending a text message to my phone, but I'm sure it would send an email as well, just to change where it is sent to.

If you are interested I will share with you what I did to get it working... really simple once you get the piecies in order... (hint... I couldn't get Gmail to work, which is my main gmail, so I got a free email account from GMX... so far so good)

Just let me know.

I havn't seen any email provides that allow plain connections which is all mt4 allows.

Look for command line email programs, if you can set them up to send to the main provider, then mql4 should be able to send to the program.

You should also try the mail account that usually comes for free with your DSL or Cable internet provider. All ISPs that I have ever seen have always also provided a free email account (with POP and SMTP server) along with their DSL internet service. Since you will only use it for sending (use only their SMTP server) and not for receiving it does not matter that you don't use this email account for incoming mail or anything at all. All you need from them is the SMPT for outgoing mail. Every ISP should give you an SMTP sever for free, just ask them or ask in their support forum if you are not sure.
