Hello, all Heiken Ashi EA MT4/5 set files are optimized on ICMarkets GMT+3 raw spread accounts, so if your broker is GMT+2 you need to put all trading hours, 1 hour back. For example in the default EURUSD D1 strategy, instead of:

Start Hour: 1

Start Minutes: 0

End Hour: 2

End Minutes: 50

you need to put:

Start Hour: 0

Start Minutes: 0

End Hour: 1

End Minutes: 50

I have received some feedback that some of the set files I introduced 2 months ago, based on the 2021 Heiken Ashi EA MT4/5 backtests, were not doing that great at the beginning of 2022.

I was also 'instructed' that a longer period of optimization, 2-3 years back instead of the 12 month optimization I am usually doing, would produce better and more adaptable to all kinds of market results.

In the previous 2 months, I've performed optimizations for a few symbols, based on a 3 year period (2019-2021) but I regret to say that the set files I produced were performing worse in 2022 than those that were based on 2021 alone.

So my idea that a closer to current market optimization would work better on the future market, is not that far from truth after all.

From now on all the optimizations I will perform will be based on the following sequence:

1. One and a half to 2 months after the 12 month period I want to optimize, I will perform new optimizations for all symbols, based on the prior to these 2 months period, for example I did new optimizations in mid-February for the entire 2021.

2. I will test the best results that come out of that optimization, on the entire 12 month + 2 extra month period that has already passed, so in this example I backtested all optimized results on the entire 2021, plus Jan-Feb of 2022.

3. I am keeping only the results that perform well in these 2 extra months that follows the optimization period, so in our example I publish new set files only for the results and symbols that perform at the beginning of 2022 too.

4. I will repeat this procedure 2 times every year, in February and in August, so you would expect new set files for the Heiken Ashi EA MT4/5 in coming August and in February of 2023 next.

i bought your Heiken Ashi EA after testing and it runs after installationwithout problems on my laptop in a ICMarkets Raw account on the Terminal. Now I rent a MQL5 VPS and after Migration (positiv) the expert comes with this message:

2022.03.01 18:18:57.636 Heiken Ashi EA MT5 (EURUSD,D1) cannot load custom indicator 'Examples\Heiken_Ashi' [4802].

Do you know about this problem?

Yes, I've seen it lately too, they must have changed something in how MQL5 VPS works.

You should load the corresponding Heiken Ashi indicator on each chart before migrating to MQL5 VPS, the standard Heiken Ashi when Classic candles are selected in the settings and the Smoothed Heiken Ashi, when Smoothed is selected in the EA settings.

You can see in the backtests below the difference in the results with the SL/TP levels in points and in Percentage of Average Daily Range.

Gold/XAUUSD was a very unpredictable and volatile instrument these past few weeks due to the war and its results were declining.

When SL/TP levels in Percentage of Average Daily Range were used at the bottom backtest, the lot size decreased in contrast with the increased volatility and the results were visibly better.

The default setting are now good for trading the Heiken Ashi classic candles on the current timeframe the EA is attached onto and close each opened trade on the opposite signal.
