Although there are many settings , the defaults are ready to trade live, just add to the chart USDJPY any timeframe. To backtest you must set the correct GMT time offset for winter and summer daylight saving for your brokers region in TokyoTika inputs under TIME section.

TokyoTika is trained on the period it has growth on . This is in line with how the market is currently behaving .No fake backtests here.  The same formula does not work on older data as it needed to be traded differently. You can optimize it over a longer period but what worked before is not working so training on long periods results in an EA that is barely profitable all the time . This way it is currently profitable and can be configured if the market changes and the current method is no longer profitable. What’s important is that its fixed lot so you don’t get any nasty martingale surprises. As you can see even when the market goes against it,  the EA does not blow the account

How often is the EA supposed to trade on average on its default settings? I got only one trade in about a week.

It will trade as often as it meets the criteria of the settings . Ideally at least once per session per day . If its only trading once a week then set the daylight savings correctly and run a backtest. Compare the results to live trading . It may be that the EA needs to be optimized for you broker and spread may need adjusting .

You can optimise the settings for M1 and it will trade up to the max set per session .. it's quite dynamic
