One chart. Two markets. Three strategies.
IPF Asia Break is an Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 that trades breakouts of the Asian-session range and of sideways boxes on Gold (XAUUSD) and USDJPY.
The idea is simple. While Europe and the US sleep, the market compresses into a range. When London liquidity arrives, the range breaks. The EA doesn’t guess the direction: it marks the boundaries and lets the market choose.
Three independent strategies run from a single chart. Switch on OneChart Setup and the EA runs the whole set for you.
No martingale. No grid. No averaging. Every trade has a hard Stop Loss and Take Profit.
Range. Breakout. That’s it.
The three strategies
1. Gold Breakout (XAUUSD). Builds the Asian-session range on M15. When the session closes, it places a Buy Stop above the high and a Sell Stop below the low. One side triggers, the other is cancelled immediately. If price has already gone through the boundary by the start of the window (a gap), it enters at market instead of skipping the day. Abnormally wide ranges (relative to the daily ATR) are skipped. One trade per session, TP set far beyond SL, and a trade that doesn’t work out is closed by time before the end of the day.
2. Session Range (USDJPY). The same Asian range, but with stricter selection: it must not be too narrow, it must be compressed relative to recent sessions, and its boundaries must have been tested by price several times. This filters out a random spike that isn’t a real range. Entry is at market once an M1 candle closes beyond the boundary. Fixed SL and TP, time-based exit like the first strategy.
3. Consolidation Box (XAUUSD). Not tied to a session. It looks for a sideways box on H1: a run of candles that fits inside a range no wider than a set fraction of the daily ATR. A breakout of the box during working hours triggers a market entry, with the stop on the opposite boundary (within set distance limits). Far TP, plus a trailing stop based on the box width and a maximum holding time. This is the only strategy with a trailing stop: it rides the development of the move rather than taking a quick exit.
Each strategy has its own magic number and its own money management, and each can be switched off separately. All three aim for a high reward-to-risk ratio rather than trade frequency. Entries can be rare: no suitable range, no trade.
What IPF Asia Break is not
- This is not an AI system. No neural network, no “deep learning engine”, no model “trained on 20 years of ticks”. Every decision can be traced by hand on a chart.
- No martingale. A loss is a loss. The EA takes it and moves on.
- No grid, no averaging. One idea, one position, one stop.
- No signal indicators. Levels, orders, arithmetic. ATR is used only as a ruler for the width of a range.
- No calendar fitting. No date or month filters added to make a backtest look good.
- No 300-parameter config screen. Strategy internals are pre-tuned. You set the risk, the symbols and the server time.
Features
- OneChart Setup: one chart, any symbol. The EA trades every enabled instrument. Turn OneChart off and it trades only the chart symbol.
- Automatic broker symbol detection: XAUUSD.m, GOLD and similar. It uses a common prefix or suffix, a synonym list, and a server symbol scan with currency checks, so the wrong instrument is never picked by mistake. You can also set the name by hand.
- Money management: fixed lot, balance-step lot, or risk-percent by distance to SL. Global MM or per-strategy MM, lot multiplier, custom balance. Free margin check, margin limit per trade, broker volume limit check. Gold Breakout also has a position leverage cap.
- Server time setting (TimeShift): session windows and trading hours adjust to your broker’s server offset.
- Scales with price: SL and TP distances are recalculated from the current price level, so settings stay sensible when gold moves to different price zones.
- Survives a restart: per-session entry counters are rebuilt from deal history, so the EA never re-enters the same range.
- Session awareness: no requests during an instrument’s session break; it waits for the next tick.
- On-chart panel: which symbol was found, the state of each strategy, which range was built.
- Works on hedging and netting accounts. On netting, the two gold strategies never overlap: the second waits while the first holds the symbol.
Setup
- Symbols: XAUUSD, USDJPY (either can be switched off)
- Timeframe: any
- Recommended deposit: from $500 (you can use cent accounts)
- Account: hedging or netting; Raw / ECN low-spread accounts preferred
- VPS recommended, the terminal should run 24/5
- Time: the schedule is built for UTC+3 server time (as at IC Markets). If your broker uses a different offset, set TimeShift in hours (UTC+2 server → -1).
- Enable AutoTrading and check the on-chart panel: both symbols found, strategies active.
Notes
Every trade carries a stop-loss. The strategies are independent, so two positions on gold plus one on USDJPY can be open at the same time and the risk adds up. The default is 1% risk per trade on each strategy. 0.3% to 0.5% is a more reasonable start. Test on a demo account first and scale up once you’ve seen it work on your broker. On a breakout, spread and slippage at the London open can be noticeable, so a low-spread account matters. As with any trading system, past performance does not guarantee future results.
Range. Breakout. No excuses.
