See it work before you spend a cent: load Grid Relative Strength Index EA in the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester, switch on visual mode, and watch the RSI climb back out of oversold or slide back out of overbought on a closed candle while the grid waits for exactly that moment to place its first level.
BUY THE RECOVERY, SELL THE EXHAUSTION.
Grid Relative Strength Index EA lets J. Welles Wilder's RSI decide when a stretched market has started to come back, then hands the trade to a full grid management engine that keeps cutting the oldest exposure down, one group closure and one partial slice at a time.
In thirty seconds
• A BUY cycle starts only when the RSI closes back above the oversold level after being at or below it; a SELL cycle starts only when the RSI closes back below the overbought level after being at or above it. Closed bars only, so nothing repaints.
• The new RSI Slope Thrust Guard ignores lazy crosses. The RSI must have travelled a minimum number of points in the trade's direction over the last few bars, so a hair-thin drift across the level does not start a cycle.
• A midline room rule keeps every entry on the right half of the scale: a BUY while RSI is still under 50, a SELL while it is still over 50.
• Profits are banked by groups of the oldest and newest orders, and a heavy old order is retired in partial slices instead of waiting for a full return.
• No stop loss and no forced close-all. When a limit is reached, new levels are refused while the existing book keeps being managed.
• Runs on hedging and netting accounts, and every limit is a visible input.
FIRST STEPS
Start on EURUSD H1 or XAUUSD D1 with the default 0.01 lot and the additive ladder. Put RunMode on Scan only for the first session: the panel then shows every plan the EA would make without sending one order, and you switch to Armed with one button when you are comfortable. Always run the Strategy Tester on your own broker's data first, because spreads, swaps and commissions are different everywhere. On a small balance keep the starting lot and let the tester show how deep the book can grow on your symbol.
Why the RSI exit from an extreme
The RSI compares the size of recent up closes with recent down closes and maps the result onto a scale from 0 to 100. Readings under 30 tell you sellers have dominated for a while; readings over 70 tell you buyers have. Many traders sell the moment RSI touches 70, but a strong trend can stay overbought for weeks, and that early entry is exactly what hurts a grid. This EA waits for the RSI to leave the extreme zone again. Being oversold is only a condition; climbing back out of it is the event. That gives each cycle a start point where the push has already faded, which is where a grid prefers to begin.
What is new in this release
The RSI Slope Thrust Guard is this EA's own improvement. On a sleepy market the RSI can hover right on its level and tick across it by a fraction of a point, and those crosses rarely mean anything. The guard measures how many RSI points the indicator moved in the trade's direction over a short window of bars ending on the cross bar. Below your minimum the cross is refused; with real thrust behind it the cross is accepted. Set the minimum to 0 to switch the guard off. The panel shows a SLOPE GUARD row with the live move, the window length and whether the guard reads OPEN or WEAK hold. The RSI can also be drawn in its own sub-window on the live chart. Margin-level timeframe safety is included and is off by default.
How one cycle runs
1. The read. On every closed bar the EA reads the built-in MetaTrader 5 RSI. The forming candle is never used, so what you see in history is what the EA saw at that moment.
2. The exit from the zone. A BUY is considered when the RSI closes above the oversold level after closing at or below it on the bar before; a SELL is the mirror at the overbought level.
3. The midline room rule. By default a BUY must still be under 50 and a SELL still over 50, so a jump straight across the whole scale is not mistaken for a gentle recovery.
4. The RSI Slope Thrust Guard. The RSI must have moved at least your minimum number of points the trade's way over the chosen number of bars.
5. The optional trend filter. An EMA can confirm the side: trade only with it, only against it as a fade, or leave it off.
6. The rhythm. A quiet gap of bars between accepted signals keeps a choppy session from starting one cycle after another, and a signal stays valid for a few bars if a level cannot be placed at once.
7. The ladder. Levels are spaced by fixed points or by ATR, with a floor, a ceiling and an option to freeze the distance for the whole cycle. BUY and SELL grids can run side by side or in one direction only.
8. The harvest. The closer searches for groups of the oldest and newest orders and closes a group as soon as its combined result, after swap and commission, beats your target. When the oldest order is still too heavy, only a slice of it is closed, paid for with profit already on the table.
9. The safety checks. A reopen guard blocks any closure that would reopen the same level straight away. Every leg is checked against the deal history, failed legs go into a retry queue, and a plan is dropped if the book changes between the scan and the send.
10. The optional hedge cycle. Off by default. When switched on it holds a balanced pair on a symbol you choose and retires it in equal slices, paid for by a small surcharge on closures the grid is already making.
The panel
The panel lives on the left of the chart and keeps the right side and the price scale clear. It shows the symbol and magic number, a status pill (ARMED, SCAN ONLY or PAUSED), grid mode, lot step, spacing, banked profit, the book in lots with its net result, the closing plan for each side with its own close button, and the order list. The RSI PULSE row shows the live RSI value, your two levels, the zone the RSI is in and how many bars ago it last crossed a level. The SLOPE GUARD row shows the RSI move over the guard window, the guard state and the trend filter. Buttons switch Armed / Scan only, Pause / Resume, chart marks and slicing. The Hedge Vault card is docked directly under the main panel and follows it when you drag or minimise. Arrows mark the candles where a cycle was armed. The panel scales with the screen and draws nothing in a non-visual backtest, so optimisation stays fast.
Protection you control
No stop loss and no forced close-all. A reached limit stops new levels; it never dumps the book at a bad moment.
Before each order the money check asks one plain question: is there enough free margin, with a safety buffer, for this order?
Limits on levels per grid, orders per side and lot per order keep the ladder bounded, and the lot ladder stops growing at the level limit.
On netting accounts the margin of the merged position is capped as a percentage of equity.
Optional margin-level timeframe safety moves the signal and the spacing to a higher timeframe when the margin level falls to your chosen levels, and moves back only after margin recovers past a cushion. Off by default.
Every copy isolates itself by symbol and magic numbers, so several charts never touch each other's orders or saved state.
Scan only mode shows every decision without sending any order.
Who it is for, and who it is not for
It suits traders who like a clear, visible reason for every new cycle, who prefer many small closures to one distant target, and who are ready to size the lot for their own account. It does not suit anyone who needs a stop loss on every order, a promised monthly figure, or a set-and-forget robot running large lots on a tiny balance.
Quick answers
Does it repaint? No. Signals come from closed bars only.
Can I change the 30 and 70 levels? Yes. Both levels are inputs; 20 and 80 give fewer, deeper entries, 35 and 65 give more.
Can I use it on gold or indices? Yes. It runs on any symbol and timeframe; ATR spacing adapts the distance between levels to the symbol.
Can I run it on several charts? Yes. Give each copy its own magic numbers and they stay fully separate.
Can I make it trade more or less often? Yes. Lower SignalBarsDelay or the slope minimum for more cycles; raise them, widen the levels, or switch on the trend filter for fewer.

Honest expectations
A grid manages a position; it cannot see the future. Grid Relative Strength Index EA is careful about when a cycle begins and works steadily to keep each cycle short and each old order shrinking, but a powerful trend can bounce out of oversold and then fall straight back in, keeping the book open for a long time. Pick a lot your account can carry through that, test on your own broker first, and let the Strategy Tester show you how it behaves before you trade it live. It runs on any symbol and timeframe and needs no DLLs and no extra files.
If you use it, an honest review of how it worked on your account, good or bad, helps other traders decide.
