McGinley Dynamic Fusion – Trend Crossover and ATR Trade Levels
McGinley Dynamic Fusion is a MetaTrader 5 (MT5) trend analysis indicator that uses the McGinley Dynamic smoothing method to help traders identify directional changes, trend crossovers, and potential trading setups while accounting for changes in market speed. Unlike a conventional moving-average crossover system, the McGinley Dynamic is designed to adapt its response to price behaviour, making it useful for traders analysing trend direction, momentum transitions, and changing market conditions. The indicator combines configurable fast and slow McGinley Dynamic lines with crossover-based signals and optional confirmation filters, while ATR-based reference levels can help traders assess potential entry areas, stop-loss distances, and multiple take-profit objectives. This makes McGinley Dynamic Fusion relevant to technical analysis and trend-following strategies across forex pairs, gold (XAUUSD), indices, and other CFDs, subject to instrument and timeframe suitability. Traders can use it to study bullish and bearish crossover conditions, evaluate possible trend continuation or reversal setups, and combine directional signals with higher-timeframe analysis and volatility-based risk planning. For users searching for a McGinley Dynamic indicator for MT5, adaptive moving-average crossover indicator, trend reversal signal tool, or ATR stop-loss and take-profit indicator, McGinley Dynamic Fusion offers a configurable chart-based framework for analysing trends and potential trade setups. Signals and plotted levels are reference information, not a guarantee of future market movement.

Fast and Slow McGinley Dynamic Lines
The indicator plots both McGinley Dynamic lines on the main chart. The default fast period is 14 and the slow period is 50, with a configurable calculation constant.
When the fast line crosses the slow line, the indicator can identify a potential change in trend direction and display a corresponding Buy or Sell signal.
A crossover is a technical condition, not a guarantee that a new trend will develop. Signals should be evaluated against market structure, volatility and the broader context.
Optional Trend Confirmation
McGinley Dynamic Fusion includes an optional higher-timeframe filter. When enabled, it uses a selected higher timeframe, with H4 as the default, to add a broader trend condition to the analysis.
A configurable minimum gap between signals helps control how closely spaced signals can occur. This setting can be useful when reviewing repeated crossovers in choppy markets.
ATR-Based Entry, Stop-Loss and Targets
The indicator can draw reference trade levels around a signal using Average True Range (ATR):
-
Entry reference level.
-
ATR-based stop-loss.
-
First take-profit target.
-
Second take-profit target.
-
Third take-profit target.
The default configuration uses a 14-period ATR, a 1.5 ATR stop-loss multiplier, and target multipliers of 1, 2 and 3 ATR.
These values are adjustable. You can also enable signal-level locking to freeze the current reference levels, rather than continually updating them with the latest calculations.
Displayed levels are for analysis and planning. They do not execute trades or guarantee that a target or stop will be reached.
Chart Visualization
The indicator offers several display options:
-
Fast and slow McGinley Dynamic lines.
-
Optional Buy and Sell arrows.
-
Optional bullish and bearish candle coloring.
-
Optional entry, stop-loss and take-profit lines.
-
Custom colors for trend lines, candles and trade levels.
Use these options to keep the chart focused on the information most relevant to your strategy.
Inputs and Customization
Adjust the applied price, fast and slow periods, McGinley calculation constant, higher-timeframe filter and timeframe, minimum signal gap, ATR period, stop-loss and target multipliers.
You can independently control the display of candles, arrows and trade levels.
Suggested Use
Use the fast/slow crossover as a starting point for trend-change analysis. Check whether the signal agrees with the broader market direction and surrounding price structure. If you use the higher-timeframe filter, evaluate whether it adds useful confirmation to your particular trading approach.
The indicator may be used across supported MetaTrader 5 symbols and chart timeframes, but the suitability of any parameter combination depends on the instrument, broker data and trading costs.
Important Information
McGinley Dynamic Fusion is an indicator, not an Expert Advisor. It does not place or manage live orders.
Trend crossovers can lag price changes or generate repeated signals during sideways markets. ATR-based levels are volatility-scaled references, not predictions of future price movement. Backtest and forward-test your chosen configuration before relying on it in live trading.
