SharkZ Gold EA trades gold on a single, transparent rule: it waits for a candle to close across a smoothed EMA ribbon spine, and only takes the trade when the candle itself closed in that direction. Every position carries a fixed stop and target from the moment it opens, and a trailing stop that arms only once the trade is already ahead.
No martingale. No grid. No averaging down. No hidden recovery logic. One signal, one position, one stop.
How it works
The signal line. The EA follows a double-smoothed exponential average of each bar's midpoint — EMA(EMA(hl2, 60), 6) . The second pass is what separates it from a raw EMA: it rounds off the small pullbacks that would otherwise fire a signal every time price brushed the line.
Entry. A long is taken when a bullish candle closes above the line having been at or below it on the previous close. A short is the mirror image. Signals are read once per closed bar, never from a forming one, so a level touched intrabar and rejected produces nothing.
Exit. Three ways out, in the order they can happen:
- Stop loss — fixed distance, placed with the order, active from the first tick.
- Trailing stop — arms only after the trade is 1000 points in profit, then follows 800 points behind the best price reached. Because it arms late and follows closer than it waited, it locks in a gain the moment it engages.
- Take profit — fixed distance, 1.67 times the stop.
The trailing stop can only ever improve the exit. It never widens the original risk.
Requirements
- Symbol: XAUUSD (or your broker's gold equivalent)
- Timeframe: M5
- Account: hedging or netting, ECN or standard
- VPS recommended — the trailing stop works on every tick, so the terminal needs to stay connected
Check your symbol's digits before running. On a 2-digit gold symbol one point is 0.01 and the defaults mean TP $25.00 / SL $15.00. If your broker quotes gold to 3 digits, one point is 0.001 — multiply every point setting by 10 or the stops will be a tenth of their intended size.
Before you run it live
The default settings are a starting point, not a tuned configuration. Spread, commission and gold's tick value differ enough between brokers that the same settings behave differently on different accounts.
Run it on your own broker's data in the Strategy Tester first, then on a demo account, and size it from there. In particular, decide what Maximum trades open at once should be for your account: at the default, ten simultaneous positions means ten times the per-trade risk exposed at once.
Risk
Trading gold with leverage can lose more than you deposit. This EA does not predict the market — it applies one rule consistently and manages the exit. Past behaviour in a backtest, on any settings, is not a forecast of future results. Use money you can afford to lose, and never run untested settings on a funded account.
