1. General System Description

The project involves the development of a semi-automated trading system or scanner that offers signals based on a predefined list of markets. These signals originate from certain conditions observed in the underlyings.

2. Markets/Universe

  • The system should allow the user to select from a list of at least 30 currency pairs, 30 commodity markets, and 30 stock markets, with the ability to scan these markets simultaneously.

  • These markets are scanned for specific signals as described below.

Input Fields:

  • A list of available currency pairs, commodities, and stock markets.

3. Signal Generation

  • The basis for signal generation is the 20-day and 50-day moving averages (MAs) and the Average True Range (ATR).

  • A signal is produced when the daily closing price of a market crosses the 20-day or 50-day moving average from bottom to top (bullish) or top to bottom (bearish). It is considered crossed when the price closes above (bullish) or below (bearish) the moving average.

Input Fields:

  • Moving average periods (20-day and 50-day by default).

  • A checkbox or switch to enable/disable each moving average for signal generation.

4. Calculation and Use of the ATR

  • Prior to scanning, the system must calculate the ATR for the past 14 trading days (ATR14) and the past 3 years (ATR3Y) for each underlying in the selection.

  • ATR calculations are derived from the closing prices of the markets.

  • An optional feature checks whether the ATR(14) is more than twice the ATR(3Y). If this setting is enabled, signals are deemed valid only if this condition holds true.

Input Fields:

  • ATR period for short term (14 days by default).

  • ATR period for long term (3 years by default).

  • Checkbox or switch to enable the ATR(14) > 2 x ATR(3Y) condition.

5. System Output and Functionality

  • Post each market close, the system should generate a daily report listing the signals detected, each with its respective ATR(14).

  • Automated trading is not planned; the user merely wishes to view the signals and potential trades.

Input Fields:

  • Email address for receiving the daily report.

6. Notifications

  • The user receives a daily notification via email at a custom-set time, either as soon as a new signal is detected or as a daily summary of all new signals.

  • Alternatively, the user can launch the program and view all markets with current signals, complete with trigger prices and the ATR.

Input Fields:

  • Custom time for receiving daily email notifications.

  • Checkbox or switch to select notification type: immediate for every new signal or a daily summary.
