A lightweight long-side mean-reversion Expert Advisor for the Nasdaq 100 index (NQ / USATECHIDXUSD) on H1.

It waits for the index to get oversold within its trend, then takes one clean long with a fixed stop. No averaging into losers, no recovery games.

How it works

  • Oversold trigger: an RSI-based entry when the Nasdaq dips into oversold territory.
  • Trend filter: an EMA filter keeps entries aligned with the broader direction (reversion within the trend, not catching falling knives).
  • Hard risk: a fixed stop loss on every trade. No martingale, no grid.
  • Defined exit: a target or time-based exit.

Why this design

Index mean-reversion works when it respects the trend and caps risk per trade. Nasdaq Reversion does exactly that: one symbol, one timeframe, one position, fully transparent. No black box.

Honest performance

Out-of-sample backtest 2019-2026 (7+ years) on Nasdaq 100 H1:

  • Profit Factor 2.15
  • 278 trades, 71% win rate
  • Net +4,629 USD, max drawdown 442 USD (on a 25,000 USD account, return/drawdown around 10.5)

Built and optimized on 2009-2019 data and tested forward on 2019-2026, so this curve is genuinely out-of-sample. The strongest risk-adjusted profile of my line.

Set your expectations: mean-reversion is selective, so expect quiet periods with no trades (278 trades over 7 years is a few per month). Patience is required. This is a backtest, not a live track record yet, so please test on a demo account first.

Requirements

  • MetaTrader 5 with a Nasdaq 100 symbol (broker naming varies: NAS100, USTEC, US100, NQ) on H1.
  • An index-CFD broker. A VPS is recommended.
  • Built for the Nasdaq 100, so confirm your symbol before running (the EA warns if it looks wrong).
