Inflection EA - Trade The Moments That Matter
Built for serious multi-pair traders, prop firm challengers, and traders who refuse to surrender entry control, Inflection is a complete support/resistance trading system with depth that most marketplace EAs simply don't reach.Live Demo Track Record
Inflection took over this account from January 20, 2026: http://www.fxblue.com/users/Public-stats
- Has produced five consecutive profitable months: +$45 (January partial), +$138 (February), +$270 (March), +$265 (April), +$114 (May partial).
- To see Inflection's attributed trades only, filter by magic numbers 200001-200010 in the account history.
Back tested across three currency pairs over 12 months on MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester with 100% modeling quality. Maximum equity drawdown 2.63% on NZDCAD with a 76% win rate across 842 trades. Full reports in the screenshots below.
Four trading modes.
- Three S/R detection algorithms.
- Adaptive auto-switching market logic.
- Cross-EA coordination.
- 14-parameter prop firm protection.
Over 120 configurable settings.
What makes Inflection different: most expert advisors are black boxes. You set a few parameters, hit start, and hope. Inflection treats you like the professional you are - giving you complete control over every aspect of how the system operates, while still working out of the box for traders who want a sensible default.
Why Traders Choose Inflection
- Four distinct operating modes. Full Auto, Manual (button-driven), Semi-Auto S/R, Semi-Auto ATR. Pick the workflow that matches how you actually trade.
- You draw the line, Inflection trades it. Mark up your chart with horizontal lines labeled "buy" or "sell" - Inflection executes when price reaches your levels, with full risk management active.
- Adaptive S/R Trading mode. The system detects whether the market is ranging, trending up, trending down, or volatile - and automatically adjusts its entry strategy. Reassessed continuously.
- Multi-method risk-based lot sizing. Fixed lot, percent of balance, fixed dollar amount, or points value - paired with three stop distance methods (Points/ATR/Percent).
- Prop firm grade protection. Static AND Trailing maximum drawdown support, equity-based or balance-based calculation, configurable warning thresholds, safety buffers, and breach actions. Built for FTMO, MyForexFunds, The Funded Trader, and similar challenge structures.
- Cross-EA coordination. Monitor positions across multiple EAs by magic number, prevent direction conflicts between instances, control total exposure across all your bots. A capability most EAs simply don't have.
- Currency exposure protection. Tracks your total exposure to USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, NZD, CAD, and CHF across all instances. Prevents accidental over-concentration on a single currency.
- Three-tier news filter with custom keyword support and per-currency filtering. Two news providers (MQL5 Calendar + Investing.com) usable individually or combined.
- Per-day time filter. Monday through Friday - each day independently configured. Trade only the London session some days, only New York others.
How Inflection Trades
Inflection waits for price to test support or resistance, then places a position in the direction of the level's edge. If the market moves against the first entry, the EA opens a calculated basket using grid logic - but only inside a pre-defined safe zone, and only with your configured lot progression. When the basket reaches its target, it closes as a single coordinated unit.
The result: trades placed at high-probability reversal zones, with a structured recovery plan if the first entry misfires. Not a random grid that opens on every tick. Not a martingale that doubles forever. A measured system that respects your equity.
Four Ways To Use Inflection
Mode 1: Auto Mode - Full Automation
Inflection identifies S/R levels using your chosen algorithm, opens positions automatically when price interacts, manages baskets, runs recovery logic, and closes trades according to your targets. Hands-off operation.
Best for: VPS-based multi-pair traders, prop firm runners who need consistent execution overnight, anyone who wants set-and-monitor operation.
Mode 2: Manual Mode - You Drive, EA Assists
An on-chart control panel appears with BUY, SELL, BUY & SELL, Close BUY, Close SELL, HEDGE BUY, and HEDGE SELL buttons. You click to open. The EA handles trailing stops, profit targets, basket coordination, and exits. Grid auto-add is disabled (you control all entries). Direction and exposure protection are bypassed (buttons always work when you want them to).
Best for: Discretionary traders who want execution discipline without giving up entry control.
Bonus use case: Don't click the buttons. Inflection becomes a pure S/R visualisation tool while you trade through MT5's standard interface. Manually-placed trades use different magic numbers - the EA leaves them alone.
Mode 3: Semi-Auto S/R - Draw Your Level, EA Executes
This is the killer feature most EAs don't offer. You mark up your chart with horizontal lines at the prices you want to enter. Inflection scans those lines every tick. When price touches one, the EA opens the trade you indicated. After entry, the EA takes over the basket - subsequent recovery entries align to S/R levels detected automatically.
Best for: Price-action traders who already mark up charts. The entry precision of a limit order combined with the basket management of a full EA.
Mode 4: Semi-Auto ATR - Draw Your Level, Volatility-Adjusted Recovery
Same line-trigger workflow for the entry. But subsequent grid entries align to ATR-based intervals instead of S/R levels.
Best for: Traders who prefer volatility-adjusted grid spacing - automatically wider on gold, tighter on EURUSD.
Draw Your Setup. Inflection Executes. (How It Works)
In Semi-Auto modes, here's the workflow:
- Spot a setup on your chart - a key resistance, support, structure break, Fibonacci level, whatever your analysis identifies.
- Draw a standard MT5 horizontal line at that price.
- Right-click the line, open Properties, and in the Description field type "buy" or "sell."
- Walk away.
When price reaches that level, Inflection opens the trade with:
- Millisecond-precision tick monitoring - no delays
- Adaptive tolerance - 10 pips baseline for forex, 0.2% of ATR for high-volatility instruments. Auto-adjusts without parameter tuning.
- Cross detection - fires even if price gaps past your line between ticks (common at session opens)
- Full risk controls active - spread checks, drawdown limits, news filter, time filter, and minimum spacing rules all apply
- Hedge support - have both buy and sell lines armed simultaneously on the same chart
After the trade fires, the line is automatically marked as traded (turns gray and dotted, description updates to "buy traded" or "sell traded", label updates accordingly). Inflection takes over basket management, recovery logic, and exits. When the basket closes, semi-manual resets - draw new lines for the next setup.
Multiple armed lines can coexist. The EA scans them all every tick. Whichever level price hits first triggers the entry. The EA deliberately ignores its own system lines (S/R levels, TP markers, SL markers, trailing thresholds, edge boundaries, grid zone indicators) so they never accidentally trigger trades.
Three S/R Detection Algorithms
| Algorithm | How It Works | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Standard (Fractal/Hit-Count) | Identifies fractal pivots and counts how many times price has interacted with each level. Stronger levels = more historical hits. | Trending markets and pairs with clear pivot structure. |
| Volume-Weighted | Levels are weighted by the volume traded at that price. High-volume zones become high-conviction S/R. | Liquid major pairs (EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY) and indices. |
| Composite | Combines all methods plus round-number bonuses and moving-average confluence. Each level scored on a strength scale; you set the minimum threshold. | All conditions - the most sophisticated option. |
Each algorithm has its own dedicated parameter set: fractal lookback bars, price mode (High/Low or Close), minimum hit counter, volume average period, volume weight thresholds, round number interval, two configurable moving averages, and minimum composite strength (1-10 scale).
Switch algorithms per pair, per session, or per strategy. No recompiling, no setup files.
Adaptive S/R Trading - The Strategy That Switches Itself
Most EAs trade the same way regardless of market conditions. Inflection's Adaptive S/R Trading mode is different.
When SRTradeMode is set to Adaptive, the EA continuously analyses the current market condition and classifies it as:
- Ranging - sideways consolidation between clear levels
- Trending Up - sustained directional move higher
- Trending Down - sustained directional move lower
- Volatile - elevated movement without clear direction
Based on the classification, the entry logic auto-adjusts to match. Reassessment runs on a configurable interval (default 15 minutes). You don't have to babysit your charts or change settings as conditions evolve - Inflection handles the adjustment.
The alternative S/R trading modes give you manual control:
- Any Level - trade in either direction at any qualifying S/R
- Type-Specific - buy support, sell resistance only (classic mean-reversion)
- Hybrid - prefer the matching type, fall back to opposite if needed
- Adaptive - auto-switching as above
Lot Sizing - Three Progression Modes and Four Risk Methods
Inflection's lot management is genuinely flexible.
Three progression modes:
- Fixed - every position is the same size
- Multiply - each step multiplies by a coefficient (e.g., 1.5x bigger each grid level)
- Sum - each step adds a fixed increment (much safer than multiply for large baskets)
The IncreaseEveryTrade parameter controls how often the progression triggers - increase every 2 trades, every 3, etc.
Four risk calculation methods for the starting lot:
- Fixed Lot - exact lot size you specify
- % of Balance - percentage risk per trade
- Fixed Dollar Amount - exact dollar risk per trade
- Points Value - based on the value of N points
Paired with three stop distance methods (Fixed Points, ATR Multiplier, % of Entry Price), the system can calculate the appropriate lot size for any market and instrument automatically.
Triple-Layer Basket Exit System
Inflection lets you configure three profit targets simultaneously: dollar amount, points, and percentage. Whichever target is reached first closes the basket. Set just one - or set all three with different urgencies.
Same for three loss limits: dollar amount, points, and percentage. Whichever fires first closes the basket.
This dual-trigger architecture gives you exits that adapt to conditions. A basket on a quiet day might hit the dollar target. A basket during high volatility might hit the percentage target instead. Either way, the basket closes safely.
Trailing Stop With Configurable Step Logic
Standard trailing stops use one parameter (distance behind price). Inflection's trailing stop uses three:
- Activation threshold - profit in points before trailing begins
- Step size - how often the stop is moved forward
- Step distance - how far behind the profit the stop sits
This three-parameter design lets you tune trailing for different instruments and timeframes. Tight trailing on EURUSD scalps, loose trailing on gold swings, automatic activation at your chosen profit level.
Prop Firm Protection Suite
If you trade a funded account, this section alone may justify the rental. Inflection's prop firm features:
- Daily Drawdown Guard with percentage limit, configurable reset time (matches your firm's reset hour), and choice of calculation method (balance-only or equity-based including floating P/L).
- Maximum Drawdown Guard with choice of Static (from initial balance) or Trailing (from high water mark). Trailing drawdown is what FTMO and similar firms use - and Inflection supports it natively.
- Margin Level Emergency Closure at 150% margin level - hard floor against broker stop-out, regardless of other settings.
- Warning Threshold - get alerts before you reach the limit (default 80%).
- Safety Buffer - stop trading at a configurable buffer below the actual limit (e.g., trigger protection at 4.5% drawdown if your real limit is 5%).
- Five Breach Actions - close all positions, disable trading after breach, resume next day (daily only), send alert, or combinations.
- Initial Balance Auto-Detect - reads the account balance automatically, or you can specify it manually.
- Optional Profit Target Tracking - configure your firm's profit target and optionally auto-stop trading when reached, locking in your gains.
All 14 prop firm parameters are configurable independently. Built in, not bolted on.
Time And News Filtering
Per-day time filter: Configure independent trading windows for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday - each with its own start and end times. Trade only the London session on Mondays, only New York on Tuesdays, full sessions on Fridays - whatever fits your strategy.
Friday auto-close: Optional auto-close of all positions at a configurable time before the weekend. Never go into Sunday with open exposure.
Three-tier news filter: Filter high-impact, medium-impact, and low-impact events independently. Each tier has its own minutes-before and minutes-after exclusion windows. Block trading 60 minutes before NFP, allow trading immediately after low-impact local news.
Custom news keywords: Beyond calendar events, filter by keyword. Add "FOMC", "Powell", "ECB", or any string - Inflection will block trading around events matching your keywords.
Per-currency filtering: Apply news filtering to specific currencies. For example, only block trades around USD news on USDJPY, ignore JPY news. Or vice versa.
Two news providers: MQL5 Economic Calendar (built into your terminal) and Investing.com - usable individually or combined for cross-verification.
Two filter modes: Block only the first trade of a new basket (lets existing baskets manage themselves through news), or block ALL new trades (strictest).
Cross-EA Coordination (Unique Feature)
This is a capability most marketplace EAs simply don't have - and it's a game-changer for traders running multiple bots.
Inflection can monitor positions across multiple EAs by magic number. You configure which other EAs to watch, and Inflection makes decisions based on the combined picture:
- Global Order Limiter - cap total open positions across all monitored EAs. If you have 3 bots and want max 10 total positions, Inflection respects that limit.
- Symbol Direction Protection - prevent two EAs from taking opposite directions on the same symbol. No accidental buy-while-the-other-bot-just-sold situations.
- Three Magic Scope modes - monitor your own magic only, all magic numbers on the account, or a specific list of magics you configure.
This makes Inflection genuinely portfolio-aware. Run it alongside your existing trading bots and it coordinates rather than conflicts.
Currency Exposure Protection
If you run Inflection on multiple pairs simultaneously, you can end up over-exposed to a single currency without realising it.
Example: long EURUSD, long EURJPY, long EURGBP - that's three EUR long positions. A bad EUR move hurts triple.
Inflection tracks your total exposure to eight currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, NZD, CAD, CHF) across all monitored instances. When opening a new position would push your exposure to any one currency past a safe threshold, the EA blocks the trade.
Configure which currencies to monitor (or accept the default 8). Set your acceptable exposure threshold. Inflection handles the rest automatically across all your charts.
Visualization And Customization

Frequently Asked Questions
Will Inflection work on my broker?
Inflection is broker-agnostic and supports any MT5 hedging-type account. The SymbolPrefix/SymbolSuffix parameters handle brokers that use non-standard symbol naming (e.g., EURUSDm, EURUSD.fx, iEURUSD).
Is Inflection suitable for prop firm challenges?
Yes - and it supports both static AND trailing maximum drawdown calculations. Static is used by firms with fixed loss limits. Trailing (high water mark) is used by FTMO and many modern challenge providers. Equity-based DD calculation (including floating P/L) protects you from being breached by open losses.
How does the user-drawn line trading actually work?
In Semi-Auto S/R or Semi-Auto ATR mode, draw a regular MT5 horizontal line on your chart. Right-click the line, open Properties, and type "buy" or "sell" in the Description field. When price reaches that level, the EA opens the trade. After the trade fires, the line is marked as traded (turns gray and dotted) and the EA takes over basket management.
Can I have multiple armed lines on the same chart?
Yes. The EA scans all eligible horizontal lines every tick. Whichever line price hits first triggers the entry. You can have buy lines and sell lines coexisting for true hedge support.
What does Adaptive S/R Trading mode actually do?
The EA continuously analyses recent price action and classifies the market as ranging, trending up, trending down, or volatile. Based on the classification, the entry logic auto-adjusts. Reassessment runs on a configurable interval (default every 15 minutes). You don't have to babysit your charts as conditions change.
How many pairs can I run simultaneously?
There is no hard limit. Most users run between 4 and 12 pairs. The cross-pair exposure protection automatically prevents over-concentration in any one currency.
What's the difference between the lot progression modes?
Fixed = every position is the same size. Multiply = each step is N times larger (geometric growth, faster recovery but faster blowup if conditions go wrong). Sum = each step adds a fixed increment (linear growth, much safer for large baskets). Choose Multiply for aggressive scaling, Sum for conservative scaling, Fixed for no scaling at all.
What's the difference between Balance-based and Equity-based drawdown?
Balance-based only counts realized P/L (closed trades). Equity-based includes floating P/L (open trades). Equity-based is much safer - it protects you while positions are still open. Most prop firms use equity-based calculations, so Inflection defaults to that.
What's the difference between Static and Trailing max drawdown?
Static = drawdown measured from your initial account balance (e.g., max 10% loss from $10,000 = floor at $9,000 always). Trailing = drawdown measured from your highest equity peak (e.g., if equity reaches $11,000, your trailing floor becomes $9,900 = 10% below new peak). FTMO and similar firms use Trailing. It's a much harder requirement, and Inflection supports it natively.
Can the EA coordinate with my other bots?
Yes. Configure the magic numbers of your other EAs in the GlobalOrderLimitMagicNumbers or SymbolProtectionMagicNumbers fields. Inflection will monitor those positions and respect your global limits, prevent direction conflicts, and coordinate exposure.
What happens if I lose internet connection?
We strongly recommend running Inflection on a VPS for uninterrupted operation. The EA recovers gracefully on reconnection and resumes managing any open baskets.
Will the EA close manually-opened trades?
No - Inflection only manages positions that carry its own magic number. Your manual trades on the same chart are untouched.
Can I use Inflection purely as an S/R indicator?
Yes - set TradingMode to Manual and don't click any of the on-chart buttons. The EA will draw S/R levels but won't open positions. Place your own trades through MT5's standard interface; the EA leaves them alone.
What if I want to stop the EA mid-trade?
Simply remove the EA from the chart. Open positions remain open and can be managed manually, or you can re-attach the EA later to resume basket management.
Is there documentation?
Inline parameter descriptions are extensive. A full setup guide and recommended configurations for popular pairs are available on request.
