Fully automated gold trading (XAUUSD only) on a VT Markets Raw ECN hedging account. Two independent automated systems share the account:
- Breakout system: buy-stop and sell-stop orders around recent highs and lows (several look-back periods), a trailing stop once in profit, and trades and pending orders closed before US NFP releases. Trades last from hours to days.
- Short-term system: very short trades (minutes) with a small fixed stop and a much larger target - many small losses, fewer large wins. No trading on NFP and FOMC days, no weekend positions.
Every trade has a stop-loss. No martingale, no grid, no averaging down. Lot size starts at 0.01 and grows with the balance.
Risk: high. Drawdowns of 30-40 % or more are possible, and losing weeks and months are normal for breakout trading. Copy only money you can afford to lose.
Copying: 2,500 USD or more is recommended. Smaller balances copy the minimum lot 0.01 on most trades, which raises the relative risk. Use a low-spread raw/ECN account (leverage up to 1:500); spread, commission and slippage can make your results differ, especially on the short trades.
