Jack of All Pairs is a trend-following Expert Advisor built around a Bollinger Band bounce strategy filtered by a triple-timeframe trend alignment system. It is designed to trade any Forex pair or metal on MetaTrader 5, placing entries only when the market is moving in a clear, confirmed direction across three independent timeframes simultaneously.

How It Works

The strategy is based on a simple but powerful concept: wait for price to temporarily push outside a Bollinger Band, then enter when it snaps back — but only when all three timeframes agree on the trend direction.

Entry logic:

• On the main timeframe, the EA watches for price to pierce the lower Bollinger Band (bar 2) and then close back above it with a bullish candle (bar 1). This is the buy setup — a mean-reversion bounce with the trend.
• The mirror applies for sells: price pierces the upper band and closes back below it on a bearish candle.
• The trade is only taken if price is above the EMA on all three timeframes. If even one timeframe disagrees, no trade is placed. This single filter keeps the EA out of choppy, ranging conditions.

Risk management: The EA includes a full suite of risk controls — manual stop loss, manual take profit, and a trailing stop that can optionally only activate after break-even is secured. A spread filter blocks entries during high-spread conditions, protecting against slippage on volatile instruments like gold.

Tested Instrument

⚠️ Currently tested and optimised for XAUUSD (Gold) on M1. The strategy logic is universal and should function on most Forex pairs and metals, but those instruments have not yet been formally backtested. It is recommended to run your own optimisation before live trading on other symbols.

Best Settings for XAUUSD M1

The following settings produced the best backtest results on XAUUSD M1 and are included in the .set file attached to this product:

The buy-only setting on Gold reflects the long-term bullish bias of XAUUSD. For other pairs without a dominant directional bias, enabling both buys and sells is recommended.
