Shows your broker's GMT offset and daylight-saving schedule, measured from the price data, plus today's major market opens on your broker's clock. Works live and in the Strategy Tester.
DESCRIPTION
Every broker runs its server on its own clock: GMT+2, GMT+3, GMT+0, with or without daylight saving, following New York or London. Anything that trades or marks sessions needs to know which.
The usual shortcut, comparing server time with TimeGMT(), breaks in the MT5 Strategy Tester. There, TimeGMT() returns server time, so any tool relying on it puts its sessions at the wrong hour in every backtest, without any warning.
Broker Clock Detector measures the clock from the price data instead. The FX week opens at 17:00 New York time every Sunday, and the time of the first bar after each weekend on your broker's clock gives that week's offset exactly. Two years of weeks show whether your broker follows US, European or no daylight saving.
The panel shows:
- Broker time and UTC now, and your broker's GMT offset
- The daylight-saving schedule (US, EU or fixed), the last change and the next one due
- A TimeGMT() cross-check
- Today's Sydney, Tokyo, Frankfurt, London and New York opens on your broker's clock
Late or holiday opens are recognised and set aside, so one irregular week does not change the answer.
Inputs
- Symbol to measure: blank uses EURUSD with your broker's suffix, or the chart symbol if EURUSD is not offered.
- Weeks of history to analyse: default 104.
- Show market opens on the broker clock: on or off.
- Print every measured week to the Experts log: for checking the result yourself.
Notes
- No trading, no DLLs, no external connections.
- Needs a few weeks of history on the measured symbol.
- Assumes your broker opens the FX week at the standard 17:00 New York time, as nearly all MT5 brokers do. If yours opens at a fixed UTC hour instead, the TimeGMT() line will show the disagreement.
