Overview

The ALGOTRIBE™ Volatility Filter is a next‑generation volatility indicator designed specifically for gold (XAUUSD) and other highly volatile assets. It combines the CBOE Gold Volatility Index (GVZ) with a dynamic ATR (Average True Range) engine to visually identify market regimes: Normal, Recovery, and Extreme.

How It Works

The indicator continuously monitors two volatility metrics:

1. GVZ (Gold Volatility Index) – when available, it uses the official CBOE index.

   • Extreme – GVZ ≥ 30.0 (customizable)

   • Recovery – GVZ between 25.0 and 30.0

   • Normal – GVZ < 25.0

2. ATR (Average True Range) – used as fallback or to enhance analysis.

   • Extreme – ATR > MA(ATR) × multiplier (default 1.5)

   • Recovery – ATR > MA(ATR) × 1.2

When the state changes, the indicator:

• Draws a rectangle zone on the chart spanning the entire period of that state.

• Sends instant alerts (pop‑up, push, email) with details.

• Places arrow icons at the entry point of extreme, recovery, and pre‑warning phases.

Additionally, a pre‑volatility warning is triggered the moment GVZ crosses above the warning level (e.g., 25.0) – giving you time to prepare before the real spike.

Technical Requirements

  • For GVZ mode: symbol “GVZ” must be available in Market Watch (you can import historical data from CBOE or your broker).

  • For ATR mode: no extra data needed.

• Recommended Timeframe: Any (works on all timeframes)

• Recommended Asset: XAUUSD, but can be used on any instrument.
