You’re absolutely right: insufficient historical data and lack of disk space are common causes of performance or loading issues, especially when using tools like FX Power that process large amounts of chart data across multiple symbols.

Thanks for your detailed message — I can see you’ve put a lot of effort into testing things, but let me clarify a few key points that will help resolve the situation.

First of all: loading 50,000 bars of data on a 5-minute chart is far beyond what’s practically needed — and that’s very likely the main reason your MT4 terminal is freezing or behaving abnormally. MetaTrader 4 has limited performance capacity and starts struggling once it hits around 1 GB of RAM usage, especially with multi-symbol tools like FX Power.

Also, just to clarify:

- None of our indicators create template files or write gigabytes of data — what you’re seeing are likely market data files generated by MT4 itself when it tries to store huge amounts of history.

- The reason FX Power or Volume “disappears” after restart is not because they’re broken, but because MT4 is overloaded and unable to process or draw the indicators properly.

1. Use a clean MT4 terminal

   No modifications, no excessive data loading tools.

2. Download market data using the History Loader, but don’t go beyond 5,000–10,000 candles per symbol.

   I personally use only 500 to 1,000 bars on my trading charts — that covers the last 1–2 trading days on M5, which is more than enough unless you’re doing deep research.

3. Stick to default indicator settings when starting out.

   If FX Power works fine on a fresh terminal with default settings — which it should — then we know it’s not the indicator, but a resource issue caused by excessive data load.

If you really need 50,000 bars for your workflow, I strongly recommend switching to MetaTrader 5 instead. It’s a modern 64-bit application, much more capable of handling large data requests and system memory. MT4 simply isn’t built for that level of load.

Once you simplify the setup, I’m confident everything will run smoothly.

thanks for your screenshots, that helps a lot. The reason your strength lines appear so jagged is simply due to the very short 2-hour analysis period you’re using.

With such a small window, FX Power only analyzes two hours of data for each update. For example, the 10:00 calculation is based solely on data from 8:00–10:00, which naturally makes the curve highly sensitive and noisy.

To get a smoother and more realistic trend view, I recommend increasing the analysis period:

• On M5 charts, use 8H, 1D, and 1W as in my triple timeframe setup, or

• If you prefer a single timeframe, choose 8H for much cleaner and more meaningful results.

Two hours might work for very short-term scalping (like M1), but for most trading styles, it’s simply too short to identify stable trends.
