Glacier Crown MT4

GLACIER CROWN — a GBPCHF grid EA built around clear limits.

GLACIER CROWN trades GBPCHF on the M5 chart. It opens a small first position when its entry filters agree and adds positions at widening distances only if price moves against it. The whole basket is closed with a trailing stop measured from the average price.

Most baskets are closed early. In the backtest, 96% of take-profit closes happened with 2 positions or fewer, the median holding time was about 3.4 hours, and 77% of baskets were closed within 24 hours.

Risk limits (all numbers are default inputs)

  • Maximum 10 positions per side. The step size is fixed in the inputs, so the largest possible position size is known in advance.
  • Basket stop: if the floating loss of one side reaches 8% of the balance, that side is closed.
  • Time exit: a buy basket still in loss after 60 days, or a sell basket after 45 days, is closed. This limits swap costs from very long holdings.
  • Averaging pauses while a strong trend is running against the basket.
  • Margin check before every order. If free margin is not enough, the order is skipped.
  • Max spread filter, a pause after server midnight, no-entry hours and no-entry days of the month.

How it trades

  • Buy and sell baskets work independently.
  • New baskets start only when price is inside its recent support/resistance range and the entry filters agree.
  • The distance to the next position grows with the number of open positions.
  • Exit: when the basket profit from the average price reaches the trailing start, a trailing stop follows it and closes the whole basket.

Backtest (MT5, GBPCHF M5, every tick, 10,000 USD, 1:100, first lot 0.01)

Recommendations

  • Symbol: GBPCHF (symbol suffixes such as GBPCHF.raw are recognized)
  • Timeframe: M5
  • Account: hedging account (MT5). A low-spread account is recommended.
  • Starting lot 0.01 per 10,000 USD as a guide. Please test with your broker before using a live account.
  • VPS recommended for continuous operation.

Platform notes

  • MT5 version: designed for hedging accounts. On a netting account it runs in single-position mode (no averaging).
  • MT4 version: works on standard MT4 accounts.
  • On other symbols the EA can be tested in the Strategy Tester, but on a live chart it does not open new trades.

Main inputs

  • Trade direction (Buy and Sell / Buy only / Sell only / no new baskets)
  • First lot, max positions, averaging lot factor, averaging distance and step
  • Basket stop (% of balance), time exit (days)
  • Trailing start and trailing distance (or fixed take profit)
  • Max spread, slippage, trading days, no-entry hours, no-entry days, margin check

Important
Grid trading can hold losing positions for a long time and can close them at a loss through the basket stop or the time exit. Use only money you can afford to lose.
