Can't install MT4 or MT5 due to proxy setting (Windows 10)

Not sure if anyone faced with this issue? I have Upgraded laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and suddenly my MT4 won't work. Try to download MT5 direct from MQL5 and during installation, ask to key in Proxy server address. and can't proceed at all. Hope someone in the community can assist.

i use windows 10 too,,,and no problem

If your network connection works, then it is most probably a problem with some antivirus software.

I had this problem with Norton internet security - I had to turn it off completely in order to install MT4.

Hey guys, if anybody still has this problem i just went to setting and turned antivirus, protection, network security... everything off, and i was able to install. ;)

I have had a similar problem all the time, ever since MetaQuotes dropped the compiled HTML help and started using the Webview2 components.

It seems that MT5 is now using the windows core rather than doing its own networking. I frequently have issues with MT5 on a weekly basis - so much so that I've started looking for alternatives/changing brokers.

I found a temporary solution which sometimes works (but is too much trouble). If I install proxifier - everything starts working again - I think this is because Proxifier changes some settings to make the windows networking stack is behave properly. Uninstalling proxifier, MT5 will work for a few days, maybe a week until a new version is released.

Then I'm back to the same problems again with MT5 - no connectivity.

I have used debugging tools to look at the network connectivity - and see one or two connections to my network proxy from MT5 - but dozens of connections initiated by MT5 to remote IPs which never connect through the proxy even though my settings state "yes, use this proxy". Sometimes I get prices, sometimes not. The calendar seems to always update though, even if MT5 is sitting there with nothing, 2 hours after market has opened and showing nothing...

I have other apps, and they all work fine - it's just MT5. Just MT5.

That's a strange assumption.

What issues do you have exactly ?
