A debugger has been found running in your system linux error

I have been running MT5 on my Kali Linux system for a while and recently purchased a cheap computer. Naturally, as I develop EAs, my aim was to run the new computer more or less as a server to live test them on a demo account (so please don't suggest that I get a VPS).

Got Kali up and running on the new system, installed wine, downloaded and installed my broker's MT5 and suddenly:

fail

Okay, weird, so I do some research that leads to nothing and decide to install the Official MT5 from Meta Quotes so that if it runs, I can contact my broker. Well:

fail official

Reading further about my issue, I found a forum where it was suggested that wine may be the culprit, so I checked wine on both systems (the old system still works no errors) and they were the same:

old sys

new sys

I don't know what the new build number is (because I can't open it) but the old one is 6230:

buld version

Before posting this, I decided to download the official Meta Quotes MT5 on my old system, just to see if my new setup was the one bugging and lo and behold:

same error

Anyone with a solution?

Use last Wine version 11.20.

Use last Wine version 11.20.

Well, as far as I am aware Kali Linux latest wine version is 10.0, as indicated on the screenshots, and build 6230 still works. Highly doubt it is a wine issue

It is a Wine issue.

It is a Wine issue.
How so? I downloaded a new version of MT5 and it doesn't run, and the old broker version of MT5 runs, on the same system? As far as I can tell, the new system is probably spotting something that looks like a debugger and flags it.

What's the point to ask if you know "better"?

Good luck.

Good luck.

I am not asking from the position that I know better, and I'm sorry if I did come off that way, I'm asking with evidence of my situation and my logic in the instance that someone can either correct my logic with evidence, or a bug is identified by Meta Quotes and rectified. That is all.

Not sure if this is relevant, but anyway

Why are you trying to reproduce a long-known and well-documented issue that has already been fixed by Wine patches? These patches have not yet made it into `wine-stable`.

Seems like a very similar issue and you have provided crucial information on the subject. I shall try to contact Sergey and hopefully get to the cause of the issue. Thank you Vladislav.

The MT5 build for Mac stopped working after the update.

You need to download and install the new version of the MetaTrader 5 installer for macOS on top of it to use the profiles:

  • Wine 11.7
  • Windows 11

The starting banner should look like this:

2026.10.24 15:58:55.793	Terminal	MetaTrader 5 x64 build 6283 started for MetaQuotes Ltd.
2026.10.24 15:58:55.822	Terminal	Windows 11 build 22000 on Wine 11.7 Darwin 27.0.0, 10 x VirtualApple @ 2.50GHz, x64, 10 / 23 Gb memory, 987 / 1858 Gb disk, GMT+2
2026.10.24 15:58:55.822	Terminal	C:\Program Files\MetaTrader 5

If the profiles are lower than those specified, there will be problems.

Okay, the latest wine version of wine on Kali Linux is 10.0~repack-11, but I did try running all applications to mimic Windows 11 but no dice. Anything else I should try?
