There are an awful lot of open positions. It’s impossible to trade like this; the commission will eat up all the profit unless the EA hits the limit on open positions.

Andy An open positions. It’s impossible to trade like this; the commission will eat up all the profit unless the expert advisor hits the limit on open positions

I hadn’t set out to create an expert advisor that would perform consistently over the long term. The expert advisor was originally designed to tackle a different problem, and it required a large number of trades, a variety of strategy parameters and floating stops. This approach suited me fine.

In practice, this trend criterion can be used to generate signals. Let’s take intraday trading as an example. Accordingly, we construct several trend models with timeframes within a single trading day. For each model, we assess the probability that the trend will change direction. If the consistency is high, we consider the signal to be reliable. This results in a maximum of 1–2 signals per period.

Regarding the position limit – I seem to have added a check there, although in reality it should be carried out in a different block.

It doesn’t open a single trade in the back-tester. It doesn’t display any errors. Why is that?

You need to open the expert advisor in the editor and compile it
