How to use all 8 Core in backtesting.....

 

I have 8 Core on MacBook but only one core using .......while backtesting......how to make sure all 8 core can be used while backtesting so that speed can be increased faster.......PFA the screenshot 

 
Backtesting uses only one CPU core, optimization uses multiple or all available cores.
 
you can use them all only for optimization not for single test. right click and enable. but if you don't have enough memory it will crash.

Even for optimization, at least one core should be disabled as an agent. 100% of CPU usage causes a crash which has happened to me in the past while using all cores. IMHO, one core should always be disabled by default.

that would depend on how stable your system is. I dont need to do this on my current system.

That's very interesting. Does your system have some kind of automatic regulation built into it, or have you simply not backtested so heavily?

In my case, my system shows a white screen, kills some processes, and then things are slowly restored. It's set to do so in BIOS settings. More like meltdown protection than crash protection.

i am detecting a bit of sarcasm in your comment, but thats ok -- as they say -- you'll keep!

before my current system i did same thing as you, ie ensured that at least 1 core was disabled as agent. I did same thing when i first got my current system, but then it had a slower drive and less memory. once i upgraded those parts i have not needed to disable agents.

No no. I genuinely thought that you had some kind of superior protection built-in.

So you upgraded your way out of 100% usage. Got it.

still got 100%, just the system does not crash anymore.
 
I have an i7-3770k (4 cores/8 threads) OC'd from 3.5ghz to 4.2ghz.. 32gb RAM, SATA SSDs. I can run all 8 at a time.. but other processes are hindered (network traffic, screensaver, disk usage). I keep one thread open to run system processes smoothly.

Once I get an extra $5,000... AMD Threadripper 9980x.. 128 threads!
