When will MetaTrader run natively on Linux?

Dear Members,

Microsoft recently launched its own Linux distribution (Azure Linux) after recognizing that Linux has become the dominant operating system on its Azure platform, far surpassing Windows itself. This suggests the beginning of a long-term strategic shift toward Linux.

Some may argue that MetaTrader already runs on Linux through Wine. However, we all know that this solution has significant limitations. For example, Python integration is not available, which greatly restricts development possibilities.

At some point, MetaQuotes will have to address this challenge and provide a native Linux version of MetaTrader. Hopefully, that day comes soon.

Thanks for sharing, definitely worth keeping an eye on it. I remember a while ago trying to use MT5 on Linux using Wine but soon enough gave up (I don't remember the exact reasons but it was linked to the python integration). However a native Linux MT5 would be welcomed and I think it has been years a few people would've been waiting for it...

Hear, Hear... I'm rather disgusted with the way that Microsoft deploys new operating systems, ends support for previous operating systems, and even requires data sharing and money for extensions of support.

MT5 is the only reason that I stay with Windows. I'm otherwise just dying to buy a Linux pc.

Aside from MT5, I've read good things about the Windows-like appearance of Cinnamon.

I am currently typing this from Debian, Linux. And I got MT5 working on it on wine. The current limitation however is accessing the markets on MT5. There are some workarounds, but none that have been successful. I'd love a native Linux version. The devs should look at native support. I also have windows 10 LTSC on dual boot. But I fear that win 11 is going to be inevitable in a few years.

If you are comfortable with the terminal and know a thing or 2 about linux, I would definitely recommend Omarchy distro. I dual-boot this personally with windows

I found a reference to PlayOnLinux (free) posted in the Linux Mint Forums, and MT5 is supported by PlayOnLinux.

Of course, the same old MT5-Linux performance warnings apply to PlayOnLinux.
