I have an account with a prop firm.
The prop firm claims that MetaTrader stores an ID called CID on the company's server, and based on this ID, they claim I have logged into my account from multiple different systems. I wanted to ask if such an ID is indeed stored by MetaTrader on the server side? If it is stored, what is this ID derived from? For example, does this ID change if hardware components like the network card or hard drive are changed, or if Windows is reinstalled?

If they show you CID - it’s their private monitoring system, not something coming from MetaTrader.
They say that MetaTrader, in the mobile or desktop version, sends a hardware identifier to the server. Even if their own monitoring system generates this ID, MetaTrader definitely sends a hardware identifier to the server, because trading is only done through MetaTrader and there is no other system that can generate this ID. Are you sure that MetaTrader does not send anything to the server other than the login ID and password?"
I agree with previous comment "never trust prop firm in trading"
Prop firms use their own tracking systems (VPN detection, device-ID, browser fingerprinting in dashboards, etc) and then claim it's "MetaTrader CID", lol
Honestly, propfirms should win an award for creatvity. Every week they invent a brand new “reason” not to pay ppl. Now it’s the magical CID fairy that somehow proves you used like 15 computers at once. Next time they’ll deny your payout because your mouse moved too smoothly or your keyboard sounded “suspisious”.
If you are sure that MetaTrader is not sending anything as CID(Computer Id) to the broker server, I can pursue my rights.
To be more sure, is there a way I can contact MetaQuotes and ask them about this?
thanks

Can a MetaTrader 5 Broker Detect My Device, Login Instances, and Server OS?

My understanding, based on information provided by a former broker-dealer employee, is that your broker-dealer can view everything in the Journal tab of MT5.
It seems logical because broker-dealers lease or purchase MT5 servers from MQ, and broker-dealers run them on-site. Furthermore, MQ is clearly able to identify your OS because mql5 Market products are licensed to individual devices, and an extra product activation is added when an OS updates. I'm not aware of any way to obscure your system specs, if that would even be desirable. Trading is a two-way street, so some functionality might break. I do wonder whether installing MT5 in Portable Mode pulls the same specs. I don't know because I haven't used it.
What I would be concerned with is the Experts tab because this is where indicator names, EA names, and input settings print. This, you have some control over by way of randomizing file names and hard coding settings.
