Unable to install ex5 file in Experts folder

Hi,

I am using MT5 on a Macbook.

When i go to File > Open Data Folder > MQL5 > Experts, I am unable to paste/drag EX5 file in the Experts folder.  Basically, nothing happens.  No error nothing.  

Tried to refresh.  Auto Trading button is ON.

Don't know what is happening.

It has nothing to do with the “Auto Trading button is ON.” Try refreshing the Navigator to see if it appears there. I suspect your .ex5 file is problematic.

Thanks for that Auto Trading input.  Regarding that .ex5 file, I tried to copy and drag, but literally nothing happens.  Not even error or amything, but the file does not get copied.

Update - Just to clear if my .ex5 is problamatic, I downloaded a different .ex5, but that is also acting same. I tried to copy and drag this new .ex5, but literally same thing happens. Not even an error or anything, but the file does not get copied.

sounds like an issue with your macbook or your emulator -- to me.

However, if you are trying to drag your file onto the navigator -- from your file manager, then, this has not worked for years -- maybe 20 years now.

How do I install a robot with the .ex5 extension in MetaTrader 5 on Mac?

You have to do this procedure from the MetaTrader 5 file browser; if you try to copy from Finder to the MetaTrader 5 file folder, you won't be able to. Using the MetaTrader 5 file browser, find the folder on your Mac where the robot is located, right-click and copy the robot. Then, go to the MQL5 => Experts folder, right-click and paste the robots there.

Now the Robot is there in the Experts Advisor.  Now how to test it on a demo account.  and from where i can know that I hav correctly started the robot?
