Hello MetaQuotes Team,
I’d like to request a feature for MetaTrader 5 that allows manual traders to temporarily lock their trading account for a chosen duration (for example, 1 hour to 1 day).
During this lock period, new trades can’t be opened, but charts and existing positions can still be viewed.
This feature would help traders prevent emotional or impulsive decisions and improve trading discipline.
It could be very useful for both retail and funded account traders who want better self-control.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
Adib
How about simply walking away from your Terminal?🤦♂️
An impulsive trader would simply re-enable trading.
By the way, your broker-dealer governs your account. You could contact them with your request, but I wouldn't recommend it.
I doubt it could be useful or even doable.
1. What will prevent the same user to unlock it to continue trading ? If you can't control yourself to trade, you probably can't control yourself to unlock your temporary lock.
2. For it to be useful, there should not be a way to unlock once it's locked. But then arise the problems, when some lock it by error. I already see all the complaints coming to the helpdesk.
The real solution is not blocking the platform, but working on self control, emotional management, and a consistent trading plan.
