MT5 on Windows 10 iot ltsc

so, i "upgraded" my w10pro to iot lts branch (21H2 build 19044.6456) two weeks ago. since then it failed to connect once for several seconds and then connected normally. it kept showing "please upgrade to 22H2 or later", but had been working fine. however, since today it fails completely. it gives me the login sound and shows that authorization completed successfully, but won't load the charts, positions, trading history and so on.

it's obviously (or is it) not a 100% incompatibility/block, but rather some random event. is there a way to circumvent these winver checks and/or fix the connection somehow?

a little clarification. it's the same (literally) full blown regular windows instal, so it's not like some environmental components or libraries are missing. this isn't a real stripped down rudimentary iot windows installation. as far as i understand it's just tricked into thinking it is to get necessary security updates. and as i mentioned above it used to work ok. until today.

dime2call4it kept showing "please upgrade to 22H2 or later",

Then why have you not upgraded to the "Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, version 22H2" as it requests?

I now see that the LTSC version does not have 22H2 update, only the non-LTSC has it. So, I guess you are out of luck and MetaTrader will not work on your setup.

seems that you may be mistaken. It may have all required libraries and environmental components in the past, however, it seems that it does not anymore since that mt5 has stopped working. mt5 like many other programs requires updates from time to time. This can mean that an update of mt5 may need some library now, that it did not before.

Besides, before 22h2, windows had huge and gaping holes in its security which is why i believe that ms stopped supporting versions before 22h2 a long time ago.

you're slightly missing the point. firstly, we are talking yesterday vs today. it's not like i appeared from a time travel machine from 2021 with a deprecated install. secondly, 21h2 is a code name, it doesn't literally mean it's not supported. in fact it's better supported now than regular w10 which reached eol on 14th of october. iot long term support - as the name suggests - is supported, up until 2032. hence the reason to convert to it.

realistically i doubt that that is the case. however, to be precise, were there any updates between last friday and today?

it's the same install, it's 21h2 only in naming. and this version already got some cumulative updates (on 15/10/25) that regular 22h2 win10 didn't

You mixing up the concepts of "supported" and "up-to-date"! It may be supported by Microsoft but it is not kept up to date regarding newer features, and since MetaTrader keeps getting updated and relying on newer features, the older OS version becomes unsupported by current builds of MetaTrader.

That depends! What build are you using, official release or "beta"?

The latest official release is build 5370 (17 Oct 2025), but "beta" builds are continually being released.

there is no meaningful differenece in features between my installation today when mt5 doesn't work, yesterday when it worked on 21h2lts and two weeks ago when my win still counted itself as 22h2. it's literally the same installation. and there was no features added to w10 since it's eol. however lts channel got some newer net framework runtimes already, for example. my current version has more features and components, not less.

btw i'm using the official 5370 build. so it was fine on friday, but not fine today. same build, same system.

As a point of reference, one of my pc's runs Windows 10 Home, last updated on October 15, 2025, and my MT5 live and demo terminals are running fine on it (after MQ fixed its network issues in North America).
