I recently reopened an old live FX account with my former FX broker-dealer which shall remain nameless here. Their Latest Release Version of MT5 was 5227 which created a bug that failed to import past tick data into the current bar in my Custom Chart. Prior to Version 5227 it worked fine, and the same Custom Chart was printing fine in Beta MT5 Version 5242. I initially assumed that the problem was my code as is generally the case for any algorithmic trader 99.9% of the time. After checking everything, rechecking everything, ditto, ditto, ditto... I found that the only inconsistent variable was the version of MT5. My broker-dealer doesn't offer support for MT5, so I decided to take the plunge and updated my FX broker-dealer's MT5 platform to Latest Beta Version. Much to my delight, the Custom Chart instantly updated correctly.
I should note that this is a tiny micro account. My large account remains with an MT5 Futures broker without issue. I am in no way suggesting that others should do what I did unless there is literally no other way to go. I should also note that my EA codes tend to be as standard/base as possible with just a smattering of OOP, and I've never had problems with demo in the Beta Version of MT5... aside from poor price data integrity, irrelevant swaps, and poor demo trade execution which is to be expected in any unlimited free demo account.
I'm mainly posting this in case someone else out there is trying to figure out what the heck is going on with the current bar in their Custom Chart in MT5 Version 5227.
