List of All Tradable Products and Calculations in MetaTrader

Hello,

I’m looking for a way to list all tradable instruments in MetaTrader (MT4/MT5) and understand the key trading calculations. Specifically, I need to:

  1. See all available instruments – I know about “Show All” in Market Watch, but is there a way to export the full list?
  2. Find contract specifications – Spread, margin, swaps, tick size, and commissions. Can this be automated?
  3. Calculate margin, swaps, and P/L – What’s the best way to automate these calculations?
  4. Use tools or scripts – Any EAs or indicators that extract this data directly in MetaTrader or can export directly to our platform for journaling?

Would appreciate any insights or recommendations! Thanks in advance.

Your broker should always be your first point of contact. If you haven't reached out to them yet, please do so before seeking help here.

we are developing a trading journal platform? Our customers will use different brokers and, therefore, different instruments.

We have developed an EA for automatic synchronization, which allows us to receive trade data on our platform. However, since each instrument is calculated differently, I need to obtain the full specifications for each instrument in order to accurately calculate the PnL on our platform, including entry and exit points, dates, and other relevant data.

Ask your broker.

The name of the instruments/symbols and the specifications of them - related to the brokers.
It is not related to Metatrader at all.
It means: one broker is proposing some instruments with some specification, and other brokers may propose the other (or same) group of instruments with completelt differeht specification.

You are the software developer and you know it.

list all tradable instruments in MetaTrader (MT4/MT5)

One broker is having one list of tradable instruments, the other broker is having completely different list of tradable instruments, and so on.
And all the lists are not the same ones. And MT4 and MT5 have nothing to do with any lists of any instruments.
Same with the specifications, same with margin calculation ...

I do not know ... I remember the reply from MetaQuotes that they are providing some API for brokers only ...
So ... it is difficult task ...

More easy - identify 5 or 10 brokers, open demo accounts with them to get this information (in programming way, or in any way for example) ...
But the brokers may change the instruments incl specifications all the time without informing anyone ... so ... difficult anyway.
