Number of Expert Activations

Hi. After installing the EA purchased from the Market, if we delete the EA file and reinstall it, will the number of activations decrease?

If you delete EA just because EA is not going to be attached to the chart (means: activation was already lost) so the new installation will use the other activation.

Answer is No. The system counts the number of computers. As long as you are using the same computer, the number of activations will remain at 1.

this is not necessarily correct. Only last week i formatted my c drive and did a clean install of windows. I installed windows from the same dvd as prevous installation, and on 100% same hardware, no hardware replaced or upgraded, but when I installed mt5 and my regular charts, with the same marketplace products that I had previously installed on the previous windows: an extra activation was used up. And from what I have read, I have to assume that my current windows install has a different version number after an update. So, BEWARE.

You are right, I must have added this, Thank you. Lets clarify: If you format the computer, and re-install the terminal, it will be counted as a new activation.

What you can do is, you can take the image of the computer as a clean or good working order state, then install the image instead of resetting the windows. There are some free image tools that they can fully image your computer and you can backup again as a whole.

if any changes in system hardware or software in next install,it will count towards activation

that is not right either. if you reinstall the terminal or a install a 2nd instance of mt5 on the same system that you already activated the product on, it will NOT be counted as a new activation. I did this only yesterday and confirmed it.

Also taking image of computer does not work always either. I did this last week. Upon loading mt5 up for the first time on the "cloned windows", that was installed on 100% same hardware; mt5 said something about encrypted signature, and then another activation was counted upon starting mt5 a 2nd time and installing the marketplace products again.

Well said.

There is a "black box" file in C: ==> Program Files == MetaTrader 5 ==> Config that is named, terminal.lic. It is encrypted and unreadable without the key that MQ has. If I had to guess, this is the self-destructing puppy that detects Windows system overwrites.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences and insights. It seems that the activation process depends not only on the number of computers but also on system changes such as formatting, reinstalling Windows, or modifying certain hardware or software configurations. This information is really helpful for those managing their activations carefully. Has anyone found a reliable way to prevent unintended activation losses when performing system maintenance?

like they say "as clear as mud" hahahahahahahahaha

best method imo and my own experience is to use a local vps. use Virtual box or other free one, but avoid using ms's hyper v. And then make periodic "snap shots" so that you can reinstall the vps whenever you need to. So long as I install the vps on the same physical hardware I have never had an activation that I didnt want to use up, by this setup.

For example my current setup: I am typing this on my local vps: my terminals are running in the background. I have a snapshot of the full virtual windows with terminals and marketplace products installed on each terminal. When my host system breaks down. I can format c drive, and then install my vps and the mq system does not detect new windows install or the "fresh" terminals.

I still panic when my host system fails and am on "baited breath" when I load up my terminals after a clean reinstall of my vps. But this is 4th install without mq system stealing even 1 activation from me.

EDIT: but note that if windows does a cumulative update without my permission, then, mq has detected that in past, so I have assume that that could still happen to me on my vps, too.
