Help with Logging into Server on my Mac

Hey y'all!

I'm having issues with logging into my [name] server on the mac that I use for my trading. I have a pc that I tried logging in with and it worked!

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Btw I am using MT5, I tried switching to MT4 and I was able to log in (different account). I used to use MT4, but I'm setup to use MT5 now with an EA that I bought. So I was hoping to use MT5 again on this mac.

Any help/feedback would be very welcome!

Thank you for your time/help!

p.s. I brought this up in an earlier/unrelated post, & was told to speak with my broker. I spoke with my broker, but their suggestion now is for me to use the WebTerminal (eww). Any help would be very welcomed!

The OP stated that it works from their Windows computer but not from their Mac computer. So, I doubt that the credentials expired nor do I think it is related to the broker.

Another thing, many users, myself included, have found running MT5 on macOS to be tricky due to compatibility issues. One solution that works well is using Windows via Parallels Desktop on your Mac - it tends to be stable, allowing you to focus on your trading strategy without worrying about logins or other technical headaches.

In case you are keen to use plain macOS - here is a thread where users manage successfully MT5/Mac

I personally have zero experience with Mac, and work exclusively with Windows. So, please consider my comments as biased.

From what I have read in forum comments through the years, is that running MetaTrader on a Mac can be difficult and frustrating because it needs to be virtualised, and it highly depends on the type of virtualisation.

I have seen several posts recommending using "Parallels Desktop" as the most stable virtualised Windows environment for the use of MetaTrader, instead of the normal Mac installation process.

Can you tells us more about your virtualisation environment?

Also, given that it is giving a network error, there may be some "sandboxing" taking place, either by a Firewall rules blocking the communications, or limits being imposed by a Anti-virus or other application, or even the virtualisation itself. Also, there may be incorrect TLS versions being used for the encryption. These are all just guesses, as I have no idea about Apple Mac.

Ah, so from what you guys are saying, I would do well to get Parallels for my mac and run Windows on it. Okay now I have to find a version of Windows that can run in Parallel, then I'll be able to do this.

Thank you so much for the feedback everyone! Blessings to you & yours!

& Merry Christmas!
