I tried running the backtest with the “profit in pips for faster calculations” option, but unfortunately, it doesn’t really help. I ran the test several times. Sometimes it was 2 seconds faster, sometimes 2 seconds slower, but overall, there was no significant improvement.

That's very very strange. Try to do the test with some of the example EAs distributed along with MT5 and see if the option speeds up them. If so, you have a nuance in your EA, which we don't know, but it affects performance negatively.
