TOKYO, February 27. /Dow Jones/
............Finance ministers and central bankers in Mexico City last weekend postponed a decision on a bailout package to address Europe's credit crisis.
Kengo Suzuki, a strategist-analyst at Mizuho Securities, said the meeting brought no unexpected news, but optimism about a potential resolution of the Greek debt issue is helping to keep the euro afloat.
"The overly pessimistic sentiment about the future of Greece and Europe is fading," he said.
As of 04.50 GMT, the US dollar/Japanese yen pair on EBS was trading at 81.13, up from 81.20 on Friday night in New York. The euro/dollar pair traded at 1.3450 versus 1.3447 and the euro/yen pair traded at 109.14 versus 109.25.
The ICE dollar index, which reflects the value of the US currency against a basket of other currencies, was 78.419 versus 78.398.
The market's attention will be on Germany, where parliament is due to vote on a bailout package for Greece, and the European Central Bank's second refinancing operation to shore up the banking system, scheduled for Wednesday.
