Do we need to follow the trend? - page 3

10937:

The answer to your question is simple, obvious and does not require such extensive discussion: it all depends on the trading strategies used, for trend trading strategies following the trend will be the main component, for counter-trend trading strategies the trend is also important, but will be used to enter transactions against it, for reverse TS direction does not matter!!!!

Of course the methods for determining the trend is too subjective, but trend detection skills are very important for understanding the markets !!!

are you not related to Volodka by any chance?

Myth63:
The simplest definition of a trend for me is from the classic CCI 80 and MA Smoothed 48 on the 4 hour chart
The simplest definition of a trend is the difference between two points. If A is higher than B - the market is falling. If it is the other way round it is going up.

Judging by the claims of books, pseudo-science and some forum members, you have to follow it and make sure it continues, because it can't just change. If you go against it, you're probably going to lose out.

I'm not in the bargain, it's more of a fundamental question.
You should follow the trend, but not necessarily! Profits can be made from both directions.

There is also a third direction - to the right.

The main thing is not to the left :-D

But seriously, it's one of three trend directions - up or down or sideways :)

Trends are only visible after they are over. Treat a trend as a flat. There are a lot of variations. For example a trend is a shift in a flat channel or a trend is just an extension of a flat to new limits.

I have only seen one trend specialist. An analyst from VTB24. He was pushing on the fundamental news like "America needs the cheap dollar today, because the dollar will pay tomorrow at 15.30 Moscow time. "Sell the dollar before then, buy it afterwards." Or: "The ECB is likely to raise interest rates because... If they do raise the rate, we buy euros for other currencies. The only thing that can change the movement of the euro is the outcome of the OPEC meeting."

At the same time he wrote what deals and at what time they were opened by him personally and respectively wrote about the closures. The profit in pips was very significant. It was counting in thousands of points.

It was 10 years ago.

Now there's an entire Internet full of similar analysts who work with economic concepts! The only difference is that they don't give their open trades. But even if they do, you'll hardly be able to check it))

Some sketches on the topic of trend reversal (collective):

1. One of the signs of a trend reversal is the presence of high volumes and volatility. Why this happens:
a. There was a level defended by someone at this point.
b. Exit of some major player who has been sitting in the trend.
c. The flow of markets in this direction ends.

2. from the Doll area - as soon as the majority "believes" in the rise of the pair, the pair begins to go in the opposite direction. After everyone's nerves give up, the pair continues its rise.

Determining the direction of the trend is a solvable task: the coincidence of the directions of the two different indicators on the max chart, which suits you in terms of possible drawdown, and will be the right solution.

Further action - work on intraday signals of a faster strategy, but necessarily in the direction of the current trend direction to improve reliability and stability.

Wherever the trend is going, with our volumes, we are passengers on it. Only a strong player can change its direction... Just thinking out loud))))
