MetaQuotes (MQ) is adding additional activation in the time they (MQ) decided to do it.
- It means: if MQ is going to add additional activations to everybody so you will receive it.
- If MQ is not adding now any additional activations for everybody so you will not receive it.
It means: there is no any rules that MQ will add additional activation.
Last time the additional activatrions were added in 6th of June this year (and it is not every month and not every year).

On Friday I attempted to make a second out of 10 activation for an EA (Smart Stop Scanner MT5) that I have purchased on MQL5 on the 17/11/2025..
This Installation Failed but an activation was still removed for this failed installation...Please see attached!
I have purchased 47 products through MQL5 since 2019 and even purchased an additional two indicators this weekend after this Installation Failed and I have never encountered this problem before...
Kindly reinstate this activation when you have a chance...

Activations can not be recovered.

You can check the activations available on your profile here https://www.mql5.com/en/users/gryffn10/market
The activation is 1) per username (your forum username which is Community tab login in Metatrader) and 2) per hardware and 3) software, and 4) per authorization method in Windows.
And yes, the activation may be lost because of big Windows update (or because of different authorization method on your VPS or because VPS provider changed something in his equipment and/or software for example).

It is the rule, and it exists for more than 10 years, and everybody knows it (you should read the rules before buying something).

So, for now - I am trying to buy/download the Market products with as much activations as possible (because the sellers are establishing the number of activations for their products). If the seller provided 5 activations only so sorry ... I will not buy the product with 5 activations. If the seller increases the activations so it is fine so I will think about. So, it is up to the seller for example.

The real problem is that the activation system is not transparent at all. We have no idea what MetaTrader is acctualy checking on the hardware or software side. And of course, the support will never restore activations and will always say it is your own fault.
So honestly, the safest thing is to not touch your VPS once the licensed product is installed. Do not update Windows, do not change anything, avoid reinstalling stuff. Even a simple start or stop of the VPS can move your VM to different hardware, and that alone can kill the activation.
Yes, this creates some security issues, but with the current activation system that is how it is. Once an activation is lost, it is gone forever.
So honestly, the safest thing is
The safest thing is the following: do not buy the product provided the minimum nuumber of activations (5 activations for example).
Because it is the seller who decides about how many activations we will finally get ... and if he decides for me to have 5 activations only so sorry ...
Because I have 4 computers (incl notebooks and netbooks) and 1 exteral VPS so I may lost 5 activations in one day ...
So sorry ... the decision may be the following: invest in the seller (by buying his product) who is providing many activations (more than 5 for example).
Because the number of activations is related to the seller (it is the decision of the sellers about how many activations we will get by buying the product for example).

This was an attempt to install/activate the Indicator onto PC 2 for the very first time ... (PC1 activated perfectly)
However, (my side internet/your side internet?)
something happened with the download and the page returned the error message..
"Installation Failed"
But an activation (from 9 to 8) was used for this failure...

Each product has at least 5 activations that can be used in case of hardware failure, re-installation of OS, installation on a wrong PC. That is enough for a normal personal use.

I've recently updated my Windows 10 system with the latest Microsoft release.
I bought an expert from the market. I can't use it anymore, after the update, because I get an "Experts loading of <name removed> failed [538]" error!
I deleted in Navigator and re-downloaded it again under Market in Toolbox, but I lost 1 activation. How do I get that 1 activation back?
