where can i find the remaining PERIOD after i canceled the VPS before it expires?

I have just canceled my VPS subscribtion with remain over 6 moth time unused. Can you tell me how to use this unused time to new VPS when i need! Do i need to pay money again?

I tried once, no extension at all. 
It just expired as it is even though I've cancelled / suspended / not-using the VPS.
Too good to be true.

Whether you use it or not is irrelevant.
