What was the world wide accepted currency before the US dollar?

 

If it is about forex so CHF if seriously so ... JPY ...

if more seriously so no any sorry ...

(practical experience).

By the way - I am still trading EURUSD and USDCHF looking for USDCHF at the first for example.
