How man of you are actually profitable ? - page 3

Do you make a living trading forex ?

One simple question : Is anybody here making a living trading forex, that means, for a modest livestyle, is anybody making 100-200 US per day ? Every month ? I have now 3 years of trying to find the way, part time, as I couldn't afford to quit my job, tried hundreds of indicators, several trading systems and I think I got a few of them working well, my problem is :

- day trading is asking for time and concentration, I don't believe we can be constant profitable looking at charts 10 min per day; may be for swing trading. If I try to trade at work I make mistakes as I can't concentrate and that's a problem.

- I can have several good days with reasonable profit but I'm loosing my discipline when my trading system is loosing pips, I can't accepts for example 2 loosing days and I'm pushing the risk and i lose more; may be because I'm not a machine, I act as a human with feelings, so here I come AGAIN with my question:

CAN ANYBODY DO IT ? I UNDERSTAND YOU GUYS HAVE THE PASSION FOR THIS BUT DO YOU ACTUALLY MAKE A LIVING ON TRADING FOREX ? Thank you . val

hi

could you share your system here ?

Did u believe Pareto theory 80:20 ?

20% jobs having a result 80%, it's means only 20% of our time can get 80% money .

20% of our time doing forex business but can make money 80% of our income

Mladen already made a comment on some of your replies. This being no better than the rest.

Pareto theory is limited in the sense that it should be used with discretion. There is nothing that says that 80% of your time makes 20% of your money and or vice versa- you choose which side of this percentage goes where and why- the obvious would be to choose the conservative side of that theory because in reality you hope for the best and plan for the worse.

Everyone here on this forum- much of the time- come to this forum looking for a holy grail EA. I did when I first arrived here approximately 5-6 months ago- but I didn't have the stupidity of a child to go ahead and ask for one because reality dictates if someone is producing profits in their sleep why would they share it with you?

Many people define their success in trading several different ways. Some people find decently profitable EA's that produce a long enough interval of success to become profitable. Others dream of a NN that will mystically predict PA.

Many people start with 22 indicators, then maybe down to 10, then 2, then back to the basics. Some believe that having 200 indicators will improve their amount of success. 200 signals to sell or buy must at least limit their exposure to a wrong move by their excessive selection of filters.

but in the end, some won't make money because they aren't psychologically fit to trade. Some won't trade because they believe in re-inventing the wheel. Some don't because they can't differentiate the difference between technical trading and GAMBLING.

I trade with 5 indicators- but honestly I don't even think I use them- I think they're there for some sense of comfort- to an extent I use them to confirm some of my entries. My trades are made naked- physically and on the chart . I make a living from day-trading but don't be stupid.

Don't EVER put your eggs in one basket- if you depend on trading, go to the casino and bet black or red- there will be no difference in your outcome to success.

I'm definitely 100% "man" :-) (But I don't look like Charles Atlas, or Arnie).

When I first started trading, I lost to begin with (unfamiliarity with volatility and the platform), then began to win more than I was losing. However, I started to get greedy, and started overtrading. Fortunately, I became conscious of this, took a step back, and got out, to take a complete break for a while, before I lost all I'd won, and then more.

Since restarting, I've had winning streaks and losing streaks. I'm actively trading two Spread Betting accounts, one of which contains only money I've put in, and the other of which is about half my money, and half "theirs". Overall, I've probably broken even, which is better than it might have been. I consider the losing trades to be the price of my education, and if I stick with it and work hard, they will prove to have been a very small price (he said, hopefully...
