There are lots of chat rooms online, just check it on google and you'll find lots of chat rooms through which you could gain lots of valuable knowledge regarding forex.

I think that depends on which chat room are you planning to visit. There are some chat rooms which are useful and some like you said are just to lure.
 
obviously an official Metaquotes MT4 *FREE* IRC chat room with correct publicity on the official page would be a lot better than this whole website
