The creator of a poll has the possibility to set a limit date to vote.

It is indeed weird option and in most cases does not make sense to limit pollers only to few hours/days/weeks. Polls should be set for longer period automatically. I cannot imagine that some poll can benefit from very tight time limit. Naturally should be unlimited. Is there any specific reason to why someone wants to accept only fast-pollers responses?

Yes . . . if a Poll is created with the purpose of getting the views of Users to help make a decision and that decision has to be taken by a certain date,  then logically the Poll would close before the date that the decision had to be made by.
