PRoblem with setup MT4 in Win xp

Hi all,

I am new here, hope to get support from you.

I just downloaded MT 4 platform (482kb) file, then I run this .exe file getting a message that mt4setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close

And if click on more details> error signature

appname:mt4setup.exe

appver:5.0.0966

modname:mt4setup.exe

modver:5.0.0.966

offset:000200b8

 

I have win XP professional with sp3.

I think something is stopping to run setup from my computer system, any idea?

  1. Are you running on an old machine without SSE2 Google Translate
  2. Get CPU-Z to find out.

CPU-Z shows that I have 

processor>instruction > MMX(+), 3DNOW!(+), SSE

if I am correct to locate SSE.

Do you have SSE2 ?  if not you can no longer run MT4

No i dont have sse2, just simple sse.

You can't get it . . .  it's a function of your CPU,  if your CPU doesn't have it then you need to upgrade your CPU to one that does . . . if possible.  What motherboard do you have ?  or is this in a Laptop ?

i have asustek computer inc mainboard

model:A7N8X-E

chipset:n Force 2 ultra 400

 

I was really wondering that on same computer system MT 4 was working well till March/april this year, later I uninstalled program.

but now even I cant run setup.

CPU with SSE only are very old. To improve MT4 performance Metaquotes decided to allow only CPU with SSE2. That's why your system can run old MT4 and not new one.

That's seems perfectly reasonable to me. SSE is more than 10 years old technology.

chipset:n Force 2 ultra 400

Your motherboard supports AMD socket A . . . from what I have read " there are no Socket A CPUs that supports SSE2. " so you have no upgrade path with this Motherboard. It's time for a new PC . . .
