Unable to install Metatrader 4 on Windows 8 laptop - help please

Hi

I've been trying for weeks to install MT4 on my Windows 8 laptop but cannot get it to work. I've downloaded the mt4setup.exe file from Axitrader and 1 or 2 other brokers but when trying to install it hangs when trying to download the files. I've tried running as Administrator, changed Compatibility, switched off firewalls etc but nothing works. Even had technical support at axitrader trying to troubleshoot remotely and they can't help.

 

I'm now desperate. Anyone got any ideas?

install on another computer (not necessarily win 8, even win 7 or XP)

copy the entire folder (MT4) to your computer (win 8)

Are you sure that will work ? An installer usually registers .dll's and makes registry entries amongst other things.
 
That's my understanding as well - ie. just copying folder will not work. However, I will try it!
 

I've copied installs that way for years.

The /portable flag might be something to consider with the later builds

 
Whenever I try to install mt4 pc app. My pc says this app can’t run on your pc. Please help
