General Question, please help!

Be patient, this is my first practice account and I am still reading daily about how everything works.

I have a question about S/L .

I placed a trade yesterday to buy the EUR/USD and was incorrect in my decision.

During the day, my P&L was negative -7000ish, but the bad EUR/USD trade i had placed, did not close. It was my hope that I would be able to just wait for it to turn around and take small gains in between.

When i woke up this morning, the trade was closed out at -3000.

My question is, why did the trade close? If i had set a stop (which im not sure if i did because i have not fully learned the software and cant tell based on the history exactly what i did), wouldnt it have closed well before it reached -7000? and if i did not, what other mechanism caused it to close without my telling it to manually?

Thanks for the help folks =)

it seems to me that your EA close the trade

EA being expert advisor? I need to read up on how that works, i didnt realize that was possible.

Thanks for the help so fast, I'll keep learning the software so everything makes sense.

I too have been having an issue lately on some demo accounts where my EURUSD positions just seem to randomly close at prices that are not related to the stoploss in any way. When it happens there is always these weird comments that overwrite the existing order comments (the entire 31 character field gets over-written with some broker comment).

It has only been demo accounts so no real harm done, but it has trashed the utility of a few outstanding forward tests because these falsly closed orders have little to do with the statistics of the EA itself.

I'll have to see if I can dig up that broker comment that gets added...

mine is also a practice.

i'm sorry, i thought it's a real one

its ok, but i think your answer is still correct. when it is real at least i wont freak out if it happens! lol

My question is, why did the trade close?

You had 16 lots open on a 50K account. I'm thinking you had a margin call and the broker close the worst trade.
