No Live Trading - newb in trouble!

I have just installed MetaTrader 4 on a Windows XP system.


All seems to be working OK, but no live trading happens. I have attached

the EA called "MACD Sample" to a chart. The smiley is smiling. I have enabled

live trading. But I watch the MACD chart go straight thru the values that should

execute the buy/sell orders and nothing happens.

I am able to open and close trades manually.


I have tried Build 216 and I now have installed Build 213. But same problem

is still there. Am I doing something wrong?

I have installed and uninstalled the whole package several times.


I am stuck!!! Any ideas/hints would be welcomed.

Keep in mind this EA uses two signals to trade - MACD and a Moving Average.

If both signals have been hit and still no trade, check these items:


Have you looked in the Journal (the tab at the bottom of the Terminal window - not the Strategy Tester Journal!) for error messages?

Are there more than 100 bars on the chart?

Have you set TakeProfit to less than 10?

Is the account big enough for the Lots size you are running?

Thanks for reply BarrowBoy --- it looks like I made a mistake.


I left the system run overnight and trades were made by the EA automatically.


It looks like I expected trades to occur at the wrong levels.


Back to the drawing board!!!
