Many traders identify support and resistance using recent highs and lows.
But an alternative approach is to focus on where the market has actually done the most business.
Three Market Profile levels can provide valuable context:
✅ POC (Point of Control)
The price level where the highest volume or activity occurred.
✅ VAH (Value Area High)
The upper boundary of accepted value.
✅ VAL (Value Area Low)
The lower boundary of accepted value.
These levels can help answer an important question:
Is the market accepting this price, or rejecting it?
Examples:
📈 Price above VAH may signal an auction extension.
📉 Price below VAL may signal a bearish imbalance.
🎯 POC often acts as a magnet when price becomes stretched away from value.
Instead of focusing only on where price turned in the past, Market Profile focuses on where the market considered price to be fair.
Understanding the difference between price and value can provide a completely different perspective on market structure.
