i watched your video but i couldn't get good results with strategy tester.

could you advice best parameter settings for eurusd, 20 pips, and GBPJPY, 50 pips. Balance is $1000.

yes its probably because of different versions, mt4 version is ported from mt4 and i havent made a single sale on mt4 market, so i dont treat it as a priority. (i have not been aware of the problem since now)

If i have time ill optimize parameters for mt4 free version. (i probably deleted it while porting MT5 GH to mt5 free mt4 full and mt4 free :P).

be sure you have GBP/JPY  history loaded and in free version - increase mm_balance to 550 as default settings are having that value set to 450. 

im attaching GBP/JPY 1m history. its not accurate enough but its way better than if you have no history loaded in mt4 at all.

 The main two things im using MT5 more than MT4:

1. easily available history

2. cloud optimizing (extremely fast - 1000x-100000x+ speed, paid but not much if you know what you are doing)

 

you can easily import it in data history, it's in mt4 format.

I will update mt4 grid harvester and free version to 2.3 (current mt5 version) or 2.5 soon.

 change settings to those with free version it should be ok. new version is on its way so stay put

is there any where I can find precise instructions as to how to setup the ea to automatic and what should I expect to see when it takes a position?

I set it up with the default value and what the ea does is sets up red lines at particular price levels which I suppose are entry points in GBPJPY, they sure look like it.

And since it did not take a postion for every signal pictured in the chart, I suppose that I am in manual mode???

Can you help me out.  As we speak, the pair is in up trend (2014.Feb.20)

Im having someone doing pdf insctruction as many users are asking for it.

Maybe you have an account with 0.1 lot and the settings are for 0.01 lot. Enable the option for non-micro account (turn to true)

EUR JPY is not that good as it does not have established pattern. The best are cross-pairs as they usually generate bigger but more stable dawn-dawns. (its a mix of two pairs which generates a pattern). I also tested this strategy on falling stock indexes in ETX CAPITAL broker (they have 50 us stocks or so). After little optimizing it managed to earn 2x-3x with the same settings on almost every falling stocks. Optimized you could get to 4x-6x. The new crisis is coming, maybe its worth to work a little with stock prices.

In my new hive strategy i added a lot of presets. im thinking i will do the same with grid harvester. i just need to finally release Hive and im good to go.

i copied the settings from MT5 verion this time. I guess MT4 and MT5 does not act identical. I will soon update. BTW noone purchased the MT4 version yet, so i dont put much attention on it. Ill post a version tested on 99% in few days. MT5 is my priority as it brought me money, also with my new Hive strategy im finnishing now. There will be no MT4 verison of hive strategy, as mt4 has too many limitations.

one will be in buy mode other will be in sell mode with same parameters.

i can't test these 2 strategies on strategy tester at the same time.

i was thinking about multi tasking. If set right you can use both directions. I was trying to do that at start, but one direction always got stuck with some drawdawn, yet it was compensated by gains from other side. Its an interesting concept. Ill come back to it when my financial situation is better.

Advise period for automated trading

any period is the same, as it does not relate to PERIOD_CURRENT. So choose the period you like to see on chart and You feel comfortable with.

Check it on GBP/JPY 2012.06-current with buy mode or AUD/CHF 06.2013-current in sell mode.

Any trend is good fr this script, but You have to decide the direction of the trend. If you select upward trend, the signal will earn both on oscilation and up trend, but it may fail on downtrend. With CROSS-PAIRS like GBP/JPY or EUR/JPY it can also survive with mild opposite trend than You have set (check my GBP/JPY signal visually to see what i mean). If you have detailed questions i invite You to send mi private message.

Do many tests before deciding on using it on the live account! Power is in the tests and optimization. The parameters you want to start optimizing:

mm_balance and scale

You may also try to disable ATR and optimize those two factors (in some cases it may give better results)

note the money on your account have to at least match mm_balance! If you have less money, use CENT accounts (like alpari-forex russian branch with 0.0001 minimum lot or roboforex with 0.001 lot - both of them support both MT4 and MT5, but the spreads vary because of minimum lot). Cent accounts are also good way to test strategies after testing with demo, as your potential errors cost you much less.
