I have sell- and buy positions open in one pair and hedged them manual to lock in the loss.
How can the EA deal with it? In the settings I can choose between Recovery Buy and Recovery Sell.

You should have used the ea to cover the positions. anger recovering but you are in a bad position. use mode 2. next time use 3 or 4 for ea to block your orders

to make a bt yes. In demo or real account, only configure the last three inputs. the others are to create an order in losses to recover and to be able to test the system

Andrey Bakhilin #: Dangerous martingale system. I would not recommend this one as a life saver for account with a large drawdown. It's a pure gambling.
I think you have not understood what this system is, it is a loss recovery system, it is not a trading system, most of the advanced robots that I programmed at that time had integrated recovery modules, this is the extraction of the module, which I did this because many clients asked me for this isolated module to use as a complement to their systems. Keep in mind that not all multi-order systems are martingale. All the best
