TCL Trend Radar

TCL Trend Radar is a multi-timeframe trend dashboard for MetaTrader 4. It applies a three-condition algorithm (Moving Average cross plus Directional Movement Index plus Average Directional Index gate) to grade the trend on every standard timeframe and displays the result on a single panel.

How It Works

For each timeframe the indicator computes three things: the relationship between a Fast and a Slow Moving Average, the Directional Movement Index (DMI) for trend direction, and the Average Directional Index (ADX) for trend strength. A trend is only reported when the MA cross and the DMI agree. The ADX value is then mapped to one of four strength bands (Weak, Moderate, Strong, Very Strong). The grade for each timeframe is visualised in a Power Ring gauge.

Components

  1. Triple-Lock Algorithm — Moving Average cross plus DMI plus ADX must align before the timeframe is graded as trending.
  2. Power Ring Gauge — radial visualisation of trend strength per timeframe, color-coded for direction.
  3. Optional 200 SMA Bias Filter — when enabled, only trends aligned with the 200-period Simple Moving Average are reported.
  4. Per-Timeframe MA and ADX Settings — independent Fast/Slow MA periods and ADX thresholds for each timeframe.
  5. Global Alerts — popup alerts on trend changes across timeframes.

Inputs

  • Dashboard Location — chart corner for the radar (default top-left)
  • Bullish, Bearish, Range Colors — color scheme for the rings
  • Signal Calculation Mode — Closed Bar (non-repainting) or Current Bar (fastest, may update intra-bar) (default Closed Bar)
  • Filter 200 SMA Bias — toggle the higher-timeframe SMA filter (default false)
  • Enable Alerts — toggle popup alerts (default true)
  • Filter ADX Threshold — toggle the ADX gate (default true)
  • ADX Strength Level — Moderate, Strong, or Very Strong gate (default Moderate)
  • For each timeframe M1 through MN: Fast and Slow MA Period and Type, ADX Period, and three ADX thresholds (Moderate, Strong, Very Strong)

Compatibility

The indicator works on MetaTrader 4. It is compatible with all instruments. The radar reports trend state for every standard timeframe in real time.

Installation

  1. Download the file from MQL5 Market
  2. Restart MetaTrader if needed
  3. Drag the indicator onto any chart
