I’m Dr. Adebayo Ojo, a geophysicist and systematic trading researcher based in Canada with decades of experience.
My background is in applied geophysics, inverse problems, signal processing, numerical modelling, and scientific computing. I bring the same research mindset to systematic trading: start with a hypothesis, define it precisely, test it, try to break it, and let the evidence decide what survives.
I’m the founder of MSRLab — Systematic Trading Research & Development — an independent project focused on building and testing trading ideas, tools, automated strategies and multi-strategy portfolios across FX, metals, indices, crypto, and synthetic markets.
A major part of the work is developing research infrastructure that makes it possible to move systematically from idea → implementation → backtesting → robustness testing → forward/live validation → portfolio construction and monitoring.
I’m particularly interested in the intersection of human-directed research and AI-assisted development. AI allows me to build and test much faster, but hypothesis formation, experimental design, skepticism, and final judgment remain human responsibilities.
I don’t believe every trading idea needs to work to be useful. Failed experiments are part of the research process, and understanding why something fails can be just as valuable as finding something that survives.
My goal with MSRLab is to build useful trading technology, conduct transparent systematic research, and share what we learn along the way.
