Regime Switch EA

Regime Switch EA is a rules-based Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5. It uses the ADX reading on the selected signal timeframe to choose between trend breakout rules and range reversion rules.

HOW IT WORKS

Trend mode

When ADX is at or above the configured trend threshold, the EA looks for a close beyond the Donchian channel. The +DI and -DI lines confirm the trade direction. Trend trades use an ATR-based initial stop, a configurable risk-to-reward target, and an ATR trailing stop.

Range mode

When ADX is at or below the configured range threshold, the EA looks for price to close outside a Bollinger Band and then re-enter it. RSI and candle direction provide confirmation. The target is the middle Bollinger Band, with an ATR-buffered stop beyond the signal candle.

Neutral mode

When ADX is between the range and trend thresholds, the EA does not open a new trade.

RISK AND EXECUTION

• Position size is calculated from account equity and stop distance.

• Broker volume limits and minimum stop distances are taken into account.

• A spread-to-ATR filter can skip entries during high-spread conditions.

• The EA allows one open position per symbol.

• The signal timeframe is configurable and independent of the chart timeframe.
