GoldRsiScalper is an automated Expert Advisor for gold (XAUUSD). It looks for short, sharp moves that overshoot on the 1-minute chart and trades the bounce, with a stop loss and a take profit on every trade.
How it works
- BUY: RSI(21) closes below 25, then the next candle closes back above 25.
- SELL: RSI(21) closes above 72, then closes back below 72, only when price is below the EMA 50 on H1 (no selling into an uptrend).
- Signals are evaluated on closed candles only (no repainting).
- Stop loss and take profit are based on volatility: SL = 3 x ATR(14), TP = 1.5 x ATR(14). Both are sent with the order.
- One position at a time. Typical trade duration: 5-15 minutes.
- No martingale, no grid, no averaging down.
Risk controls
- Maximum spread filter (default 0.60 $).
- Trading hours filter (broker server time).
- Daily loss limit in % of the account, optionally closing open positions when reached (prop-firm mode).
- Maximum stop loss in $: skips trades when the market is too volatile.
- Free-margin and market-session checks before every order.
- Optional trailing stop and optional economic-news filter (MetaTrader calendar, high-impact USD events).
- Weekend protection: no new trades late on Friday and positions closed before the broker's Friday close.
- Equity floor: if equity falls below a level you choose, the EA closes its trades and stops.
- Push notifications to the MetaTrader mobile app: trades opened/closed, daily summary, loss warnings.
- On-chart panel: settings, balance, today's and total result, open trade and last trades.
Position size
Three modes: fixed lots, risk % per trade, or leverage on balance (position value = X times the balance).
Recommended setup
- Symbol: XAUUSD or your broker's gold symbol (1 lot = 100 oz).
- Chart: M1. The EA uses the chart timeframe for its signals. Attach it to one chart only.
- Broker: low-spread account with commission (raw/ECN). The strategy is sensitive to costs: with an average gold spread above about 0.30 $ the results in our tests were much weaker.
- Trading hours: 8-24 server time on brokers with GMT+2/GMT+3 server time (the default).
- Size: 0.01 lots per 1,000 of balance to start.
- Prop-firm accounts (example for 10,000): fixed lots 0.07, daily loss limit 3% with closing of open trades, maximum stop loss 15 $, news filter on (15 minutes before, 3 after), equity floor 9,200.
Backtest (simulation, not real trading)
XAUUSD M1, Oct 2025 - Oct 2026, real ticks, data of a raw-spread EU broker, commissions included, 1,000 EUR start, 0.03 fixed lots, leverage 1:20: 460 trades, net profit about +1,630 EUR, maximum drawdown about 280 EUR (11.5%), profit factor about 1.4, 73% winning trades. Most of the gain came in the first nine months; the last months were flat.
On other brokers and periods the results can be different, also negative.
Important
Past and simulated results do not guarantee future results. Trading leveraged CFDs carries a high risk of losing money. Test the EA on a demo account with your broker first and only trade money you can afford to lose. The EA needs to run continuously (VPS recommended).
